  • Good for my intended use.
This 4x6 tarp fulfills my intended use which is to provide a shade wall on my 6x6 popup canopy. I have an Ozark Trail 6' x 6' Canopy that has a built-in, half-high side wall, but I wanted to shade another side so I wouldn't need to turn the canopy during the day. This tarp filled the bill, and is grey/silver so it sort of matches the Ozark Trail canopy. There are 6 grommets all together, one on each corner and one in the middle of each long side. The inner diameter is 12mm (.47"). There were no defects that I could see; no holes or exposed threads as some reviews point out. A few reviews mention the tarp size is not as described. Tarp sizes are for the most part nominal. The actual dimensions are shorter. Stretching the tarp out taut it measured 3' 8" x 5' 8". Many reviews mentioned the thinness of the material. I folded the tarp and measured 8 thicknesses at 41 mils, which comes out to the tarp being about 5 mils thick. To get an idea of how thick (or thin) that is, 20 lb paper is 3.8 mils, 28 lb paper is 5.8 mils. Other reviews comment on how fast the material deteriorates. I usually spray my canopies and other outdoor gear with a UV protectant. In this case I used 303 Products Aerospace Protectant on the tarp. It's only been a month since I've had the tarp and there have been only a couple of weeks of sunny, 80°F temperatures. It's hardly the test of time. I suppose I'll be able to tell more next spring and summer. ... show more

  • It exceed expectations
At first I left one star, a year later I changed it to five stars. Yes, it is very thin, all I wanted to do was keep the fall rain then the winter ice and snow off my woodpile and it did exactly that. There was no leaks or tears with hundreds of pounds of ice on it and my wood stayed bone dry. If your looking for an economy tarp to do what I needed it to do, no question this is the tarp for you. if your looking to cover your camper or boat in heavy wind conditions or doing something it isn't intended for you may want to get a heavy duty one. Excellent light/medium duty tarp ... show more

  • Great insurance for car campers!
I bring this tarp on all my car camping trips as it is a general life saver when you get rainy weather. I was able to keep the area outside my tent and around our cooking area and even one side of the fire pit where our chairs were bone dry during a camping trip where we received about 1" of rain in a 24 hour span. With the help of some metal caribiners and 1/4" line, this thing strung up nicely and didn't seem to stretch or leak with how tight we had it. Was a bit noisy with the wind at times but the grommets held up well on the edges where the line was attached. The Green color is nice for the spring and summer time as it's not a giant blue blob when you look at your campsite from the distance. The brown side will come in handy during the fall times as well. If you're looking for a tarp that will keep your campsite dry and offer plenty of options in regards to how much ground you want to cover, this is the one to get. The various grommet points allow you to virtually select the size/area you want to cover. Just think twice about the size though. I probably would have been fine with just a 16'x12' or something in that range. UPDATE: It's been about 4 years having this tarp and it's finally starting to show its age. Granted I only use it about 30 days out of the summer for camping, I'd say 120 straight days of use on this thing and it finally starting to break down isn't bad for the price. I've stopped using the grommets as they have weakened. I've moved to a slip knot over a smooth stone with the tarp material wrapped around the stone method. The tarp still holds up great but the high altitude UV appears to be breaking the glue down on the central seams. I'm debating on just ditching the tarp for a new one or gluing the seem back together. This tarp remains a staple in my car camping gear as it's saved us from having to hide out in a tent from mountain storms many times. I still consider this a great value buy for people who need a shelter car camping. I also would get the same size 20x16 as it's proven o be a perfect size for a group of campers to stay dry under. ... show more

  • Great Tarp, Great Value
I purchased a few of these tarps in 5 x 7 and they're perfect for the money....ample weight, goodly sized and neutral color of silver grey - great find.

  • For $4 you could do worse
These are cheap tarps and they work. I covered a broken car window not leaks. I covered stuff in the yard, no rips. These are no nonsense type of tarps. If something were to happen, its's $4. Buy another one.

  • Ripped within a week
This tarp was perfect for an odd sized area I was trying to cover, which kinda justifies the higher cost. But it wasn't as durable as I'd hoped. Within a week, one of the corner grommets had ripped out. The rest of the tarp is holding up well so far. And the color was great for blending into the environment. So...thus far I'm overall pleased with my purchase. I've actually ordered 3 more to cover more of the area in question. I'll just need to experiment a little more with securing them in such a way that they don't rip out again. ... show more

  • lightweight
We needed 3 10' x 30' silver tarps to cover walls and shelving inside a shop. We cut the tarp into 3 pieces and hung it from the ceiling. This was the best price we could find for a lightweight tarp only needed to cover walls. We can't tell how this would work for outside covering to keep things dry. ... show more

  • Cheaply made, with no evidence of QC
I have bought cheap silver tarps before. I thought that all cheap silver tarps must be roughly equal, and that there is probably one cheap silver tarp company somewhere in China. Boy was I wrong. This thing's cheapness exceeded my expectations. It is so flimsy and poorly made that at several places the actual thread weave was exposed, right in the middle of the tarp. I doubt that it is even remotely waterproof. And one whole side of the tarp had no grommets. NO GROMMETS!!! I understand that sometimes QC just rubber stamps the paperwork or does a spot check, but that's kind of ridiculous. At least I didn't have to pay the return postage, and fortunately I finally opened the package and examined it THE DAY before my 30 day return window was up. If you decide to not take my advice and order it anyway, at least look at it carefully before the 30 days expire. ... show more
