Description

112-0504 PTO Deck Engagement Cable The Fwppet 112-0504 deck engagement cable is an aftermarket replacement designed for select Toro LX Series and compatible MTD-platform riding lawn tractors. It connects the PTO or mower deck engagement lever to the compatible deck engagement mechanism, transferring the operator’s control movement to help engage or release the cutting deck. Replaces part numbers 112-0504, 1120504, 746-04092, and 946-04092.How the Deck Engagement Cable Works When the PTO or deck-engagement lever is moved, the cable pulls the compatible engagement mechanism and changes the operating position of the mower deck system. This movement allows the cutting deck to engage for mowing and release when cutting is no longer required. Correct cable length, routing, mounting points, and end connections are important for proper operation.Common Replacement and Repair Scenarios The original cable may need replacement when the PTO lever feels unusually loose, the mower deck does not engage, the cutting blades respond slowly, or the deck engagement control moves without producing the expected response. A stretched inner cable may reduce the amount of movement transferred to the deck mechanism, while a broken wire, seized cable, cracked outer housing, damaged spring, or worn eyelet end may prevent the system from engaging or releasing correctly. This replacement cable is also suitable when the original cable binds during movement, the deck engages intermittently, the control does not return normally, or the cable has become rusted or difficult to move after repeated outdoor use. The cable helps restore movement between the PTO control and the compatible deck engagement mechanism, but mower deck problems may also be caused by belts, pulleys, idlers, springs, brackets, spindles, or other components. Inspect the complete deck system before ordering replacement parts.Cable Dimensions and End Design The cable measures approximately 43 inches in total assembled length with a 26-inch outer conduit. It features a spring connector on one end and an eyelet-style connector on the other. Before ordering, compare the total assembled length, conduit length, spring design, eyelet shape, mounting locations, and cable routing with the original cable removed from the mower.Compatible Toro LX Series Models Fits select configurations and serial-number ranges of the following Toro riding lawn tractors: Toro LX420 — model 13AX60RG544 — 2006 — serial number 1L215B10000 and up Toro LX425 — model 13BX60RG544 — 2007 — serial-number range 1A087H10172 through 1E237H10144 Toro LX460 — model 13AX60RH744 — 2006 — serial number 1A056B50000 and up Toro LX465 — model 13AX61RH748 — 2007 — serial number 1A117H10393 and upAdditional MTD-Platform Applications Part numbers 746-04092 and 946-04092 are also used on select MTD-platform riding mowers. Compatible examples may include: Select MTD 600 Series lawn tractors White Outdoor LT-942H — model 13A4616G790 — 2005 MTD Pro 46-inch Lawn Tractor — model 13AT605H718 — 2006 White Outdoor LT-942G — model 13AX605G790 — 2006The same replacement numbers may also appear on select Troy-Bilt, Cub Cadet, Yard Man, and other MTD-manufactured riding lawn tractors. Brand name or deck width alone does not confirm compatibility. Select this cable only when the original parts diagram identifies 112-0504, 746-04092, or 946-04092 and the original cable matches the listed dimensions and end connections.Fitment Verification Before Ordering Riding mower models may use different PTO controls, deck sizes, brackets, cable routes, and engagement mechanisms depending on the production year and serial number. Locate the mower identification label and verify the complete model number and serial number. Check the original parts diagram or the number associated with the old cable, then compare the 43-inch total assembled length, 26-inch conduit, spring end, eyelet end, and mounting positions.Do not order this cable only because the mower has a 42-inch or 46-inch cutting deck. Mowers with the same deck width may use different cable lengths and connector designs. The original part number and physical cable configuration should be the primary fitment references.Installation Preparation Park the mower on a flat surface, turn off the engine, remove the ignition key, allow the engine to cool, and disconnect the spark-plug wire before beginning service. Lower the mower deck and make sure all moving components have stopped. Take photos of the original cable routing and mounting positions before removing the old cable.Installing the Replacement Cable Release the original spring and eyelet ends from their mounting locations, then remove the cable from its guides and retaining points. Route the replacement cable along the same path as the original without twisting the housing or creating sharp bends. Secure the eyelet-style end and spring connector in their correct positions and confirm that the outer conduit is fully seated in each bracket or retaining point.Keep the cable away from hot engine surfaces, rotating pulleys, belts, steering components, and other moving parts. Before starting the mower, operate the PTO or deck-engagement lever several times and confirm that the cable moves freely without binding, excessive slack, or interference.Testing After Installation Test the mower in a safe, open area before normal operation. Confirm that the cutting deck engages when the PTO control is moved to the operating position and releases correctly when the control is disengaged. Stop using the mower if the cable binds, the deck remains engaged, the blades do not respond correctly, or the PTO control does not move normally. Recheck the routing, mounting points, deck belt system, pulleys, springs, and related engagement components.Package Contents Package includes one Fwppet 112-0504 aftermarket PTO deck engagement cable. The riding mower, mower deck, belts, pulleys, brackets, installation tools, and additional hardware are not included.

  • Works on My 42" Mower.
I installed this yesterday on my 2005 White Outdoor 42" LT 942H. It fit perfectly and appears to be high quality. Installation time took about 20 minutes. I had to remove and reinstall the bracket on the frame of my mower in order to remove the cotter pin that anchors the original cable to that bracket. The old cable had a kink which made engaging the blade harder than it should have been. The new cable has cured that problem! ... show more
