These threads are impossible to separate, they just break apart. Seems like they would work if not separated.

What I needed. I wish the threads had been a little longer, but good for the price. Quality is decent. I've never used the metallic threads, so I didn't know what to expect. The floss was more abrasive than I expected. I thought the dye would be metallic rather than somehow adhering a glitter-like substance to the individual threads, but it's fine for the price. I'm using them for temari, so it'll be adequate for now. ... show more

Wanted red metallic floss for Xmas project. This stuff is just 12 stands of shiny plastic all tangled together. Terrible. Colors are as pictured but strands are a bear to separate to get just 2 for standard embroidery. I only made 25 cross-stitch Xes and it was already frayed at the needle. The finished product is rough and plastic-y. I am not confident it will age well. I expect it will get brittle and crumble after a few years. This was the first time I’ve used metallic floss so I thought that’s just how it is. BUT… I had some gold DMC floss to use on the same project and the strands separated as easily as regular floss, it pulled smoothly when working and showed no wear at all after the same number stitches and the finished stitches looked full and sparkly and are smooth to the touch. DMC floss appears to have a regular thread core which the gold strands are twisted around making 6 discrete threads. And it literally acts like any other floss. I will never buy non-DMC floss ever again. ... show more
