irst, I want to mention that these sponges are a great value. With 100 in a pack, you'll have plenty of sponges to use for multiple grows. They are also very easy to use - just soak them in water before planting your seeds or cuttings. In terms of performance, these sponges do a great job of holding moisture and providing a stable base for your plants. They are also easy to clean and reuse, making them an eco-friendly option. I got these to test them out in a Rise Garden, and although they worked, I would not recommend them because they are too small. I fit 4 little pods into one Rise Garden pod, and I did successfully grow some kale in them, but they seemed a little crowded and they did not grow as well as the others.

The picture attached is a side-by-side comparison of my previous grow pods (on the Left) and this item from the Reetsing Store. When I put it into the "cages" it barely came up two-thirds of the way. I figured the seeds might therefore take longer to germinate, and it appears I was right. In the second picture, you can see that of 5 lettuce and basil plantings, only two have fully germinate after 2 weeks. 3 pods still have their "hats" on. Underneath one, I can see a teeny-tiny shoot trying to reach the light very far above. The other two haven't sprouted at all. I will go back to my old brand. ... show more
