I did weeks of research on mattress toppers. Orginaly I had a pretty nice foam one. It expired after a few years of use. I couldnt sleep or stay asleep because of hip pain. It was horrible. I've had back surgery and a hip replacement previous to purchase. Foam toppers are hard to roll over or move across the bed on. These are not! I was torn between soft and medium. I choose soft for fear the next one up would be to hard like my mattress. I should of gotton the next level of firmness up. Now that I understand the feel of the latex I get what a few others where saying in there reviews. If you suffer from hip pain while laying on your side dont get the softest one. I've had mine almost a year and it's the same as the day I got it. I like that the latex has a longer life span. It's well worth the cost. I won't ever go back to a foam topper. When I first got mine I noticed about 3 weeks later a funky oder in my room. I I tracted it down to the topper. I could of sent it back but there's no way I'd of gotten it into the required box size alone. The company was willing to refund my money but not send a replacement. They said it was impossible to have a odor. I choose to sprinkle baking soda and lavender oil on it instead. It worked. I can see how this could tear if your not cautious moving it. It tends to stay put much nicer than the foam ones. Probably cuz of its weight. As far as it holding heat from your body it's much cooler than foam toppers. So.....if you have body aches that interfere with your sleeping don't get the softest .......go up to medium. I would get anything less than 3 inches. ... show more

My husband and I have totally different preferences for mattress firmness. We have a California king memory foam and he's been sleeping in the recliner. We decided to give this a try and LOVED it! His side is a 3" firm, twin XL and my side is a 3" soft, twin XL. They fit together and on the bed perfectly. I can't feel the separation between the two and they stay on well with a topper cover that has grips plus the weight of the topper itself. I had purchased this because I am allergic to the memory foam toppers, and synthetic products. I had previously purchased a Holy Lamb wool topper with latex interior, for another bed in my rental property - which is a wonderful product but a little pricey. I decided to buy the 3 inch soft, and I had a wool mattress topper, and then bought a mattress cover that zips over everything, made out of 100% cotton. I wish I had thought of this sooner. It’s much more cost-effective and the latex is thicker. The latex has the perfect rubbery bounce without being too soft. This was a choice I agonized over was -medium vs. soft. I think I’m a medium but these medium softness beds always feel great in the show room, but turn out too hard for me when I actually sleep in them - so I went with the soft and BINGO. I slept like a dream. I am hoping there is no “dip” that forms after more use. I found memory foam doesn’t hold its shape as much on the toppers, and needs to be turned or flipped fairly regularly. Acknowledging softness & flexibility/squishiness of any mattress topper is very personal & subjective: -The mfger's recommendation was for a a "SOFT" for side-sleepers but.. this 3" 'Soft mattress Latex mattress topper too soft & squishy for intended family member. Believe they would have been happier with a 'medium" or maybe a thinner 'soft' model . - Also purchased & installed for about $56 a good 100% cotton cover (100% cotton 3" cover not available from Amazon that we could find) from the Latex Mattress Company directly. - Suggest at least two people to repack (or get a bigger box), Weighs only about 40 pounds but.. the soft topper is very flexible and squishy/squiggly. Suggest two people to install any topper Cover; suggest a cover for the soft topper. We very carefully re-packed and returned for a refund, carefully following the seller's return instructions, seller timely provided refund. - This Soft topper is on a very firm, excellent quality bed mattress but still too squishy and soft for the side-sleeper family member. - Again, acknowledge softness & flexibility of any mattress topper is very personal & subjective. If were to purchase again, would consider a Medium or even Firm 2" topper for the side-sleeper family member. - Hope seller will consider in the future offering for minimal price a sample of the various mattress topper choices (soft, medium, firm etc.) to help with purchase decision of soft, medium or firm. ... show more

This is what I've been waiting for for 59 years. I have 8 autoimmune disorders and in a lot of constant pain. I've tried the memory foam, but although its nice, its not this soft springy rubber. I will never have another mattress in my life...which might be short... but at least I will DIE HAPPY!. ~:-) ... show more
