While this set is heavy & feels sturdy, the actual craftsmanship is a little shoddy. You can see in the photo how the plates are not mold formed, or if they are, they aren't fully cooled before being manipulated. You end up with wavy edges that don't conform to eachother, creating a wobbly stack. There's also small bumps/defects in the glazing, one in particular that bugs me is on the rim of one of the cups, so they probably weren't prepped for glaze properly or maybe were glazed in a non-isolated space. Not too happy for the amount money I spent, but satisfied enough to not return them. For the record, some other dish sets on here are way more overpriced or badly made. Like the product. The glossy black finish is very stylish. 2 of the four dinner plates had pinhead defect wherein the white of the base pottery shows through. Too much of a hassle to return. Glossy black finish looks great until you start seeing your finger prints when handling.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: These are beautiful plates... the matte black is actually black, not some strange color, and they have a hefty feel to them. Out of 30 pieces, only two were broken when they arrived. Purchased July, 2020 = now it's April 2023. These dishes scratch, the finish wears away and accumulates dishwasher stains way faster than the higher price should allow. After the second year, be prepared to wash these by hand only. Yeah, these are very cheaply made imo and not worth the price. Edges aren't straight, bubbles and other imperfections. Loses shine quickly. No diff quality made than those 4 place setting boxed sets one might find at a typical Walmart. Except the Walmart boxed versions are way cheaper. I finally threw out these Amazon Strawberry Street dishes, after 3 years, when my newest Gibson dishes order arrived. ... show more
