This is a nice set for a beginner or even if you like to paint and travel. I brought it to a hotel when we had to stay a few days so I could still paint my rocks.

I like the ability to invite people (kids, adults) over for a painting party and this kit helps tremendously. The paints are good and work well for a number of painting projects. I occasionally use acrylic paint blend (a thinner) and that works well with these paints in case they are a bit thick.

My kids are very crafty and with summer break coming up I need some activities to keep them occupied and not constantly whining about watching TV. We picked up a bag of river rocks at the home improvement store and got this set of acrylic paint so that they could paint rocks. What I like about these paints is that each kid can have their own set. Each set comes with two paint brushes and the paint easily rinses in water so that they can use the same brush as they craft. Also since the pots are so small and easy to open and close, I don't have to be involved while they paint. They can easily open the pots themselves and if they spill the pots there isn't much to clean up. ... show more

This is a decent set for a very small project but not much more. The paint containers are pretty small and not full. If you have children who like to paint items with only their favorite color you might want to have extra bottles of paint for refills handy. The assortment of colors is lovely, more than found in most sets. The colors are bright and thick.
