  • Good value, good quality, sturdy, well made, no instructions included.
This is a good value for a very good quality 10 circular opening spiral or coil binding paper opening punch. It won’t bind the paper, just make the openings for your own or the included spiral binder ring coils. The quality is excellent and it’s very sturdy and well made and it works well. Included is: -1 binding machine paper punch -1 set of pastel colored paper label self stick flags (can be used as book marks) -12 small plastic binding coils (3 colors, 6 of each color) (5 coils each, 1.57” length each) It can work with paper sizes: -B5 (6.9 inches wide by 9.8 inches tall) -A4 (8.27 inches wide by 11.69 inches tall, this is common printer or letter sized paper) -A5 (5.83 inches wide by 8.27 inches tall) Each press of the lever makes 10 circular openings. It presses down easily and goes through paper well. It will collect the paper that is removed and you can empty the paper catcher under the device. The paper punches themselves are a sturdy, heavy metal alloy. You can only use 10 sheets of paper at a time when you press down. This is the rating for standard thickness paper, if your paper is thicker you may have to use less sheets. So you can only press down to make openings in the paper in increments of up to 10 sheets, not over 10 sheets. It has an alignment post (see the pictures) that is the 2 tabs (circles) left outside the press. If you look in the listing pictures they show how to use it and count the openings to get the spacing for the size of paper used. It’s sturdy but small and compact it has metal construction and the size is: 5.2” long, 4.1” wide by 3.4” tall. I’d suggest using some scrap paper to practice the alignment, spacing and paper placement. I found that at first I wasn’t putting the paper in it properly and didn’t put it far enough into the device. There was a learning curve to it and I did find I needed to practice. Placement and alignment really matters with this device. It doesn’t have a long extension holder or the length to easily use with longer standard paper. It can be used with longer standard paper, but you have to move the sheet carefully in the device and it’s not that easy to align until you learn how to use it. It is going to be easier to use a full sized punch on standard, long paper vs this one. Note that no instructions come with it. You may want to refer to, save or print the listing details and pictures as there are some use tips there. It really would have benefited from a set of printed instructions along with it. Note that no storage case comes with it. Note that no paper or binder covers come with it. Note that this does not mechanically bind or put the binder coils in the paper. It only makes the openings for some (but not all) binder coils. You will have to manually insert and attach the binder coils. When looking for replacement or additional binder coils, remember that the spacing of the openings (called pitch) is how you know if it will fit. For example a binder coil with a pitch of 3:1 is 3 openings per 1 inch. Binding pitch is in this format with the first number before the : the number of openings per inch. The second number :1 stands for the inch part of the pitch measurement. If you take 1 inch and measure the openings this makes, it looks to be 3 openings per inch or a binder pitch of 3:1. This one makes 10 circular openings. The spacing between the openings is 9.5 mm and the openings are 5.55 mm wide. You can use some compatible full length spiral notebook style plastic or metal binding coils (not included) if they are compatible in the pitch. You can also use the smaller 3 piece style (or 2 piece on smaller paper) like the ones included. You can also use metal binder rings that are loose rings that come in different sizes (for the amount of paper they can hold). ... show more

  • Fun and simple to use
I ordered this whole punch binding set sort of on a whim, but I have actually had a lot of fun with it. It has multiple uses for crafting homeschooling and office applications. It's small, so does it take up a lot of room, and it has a smooth action, making it easy to punch the holes Without a lot of effort. I have not attempted to punch through more than five sheets at a time, but I don't see why it would not go through several more than that with ease. It comes with the rings that you need to bind up your project. I'm using these to make small family recipe books for stocking stuffers this Christmas ... show more

  • Good quality and easy to use
I got this for my niece, who is 12 and wants to self-publish her own coloring books. The hole punch itself is really good quality — solid metal that feels sturdy and won’t break easily. It works just as expected, and she was able to use it right away without any instructions since it’s pretty common sense. The set comes with plastic coils, and while they haven’t broken, I’m not crazy about them. I bought her extra coils (60 for $9), but honestly, I think metal binder rings are a better value and more durable. That said, since she’s a kid selling to other kids, she might actually be right that the plastic ones are what works best. All in all, this is a good value, and she’s already having fun with it. ... show more

  • Odd Size and Difficult to Align Multiple Punch Sets
The media could not be loaded. I've been wanting to try out spiral bonding for a while, and this kit caught my eye because of the low up-front cost, and it included the reusable style binding clips. For some reason I expected the punch to be wider, but it is only about 4 inches wide. The possibilities of sizes you can punch are pretty vast, but getting each set to line up perfectly is a challenge. The guide lines are very difficult to see and ambiguous. Since you can only punch less than 10 pages at a time aligning multiple punch sets in a row without tedious measurements would very difficult. The punch width is an awkward size. I attempted to punch along the long edge of an index card but it ended up dividing it awkwardly Even the short edge ended up a bit odd because of the difficulty aligning everything. The included clips are easy to use and seem ok quality. I do find the odd spaces left over with the short clip size a bit strange. Overall this was an ok starter kit, especially for binding smaller things like flashcards, but if you want an easy to use tool with a more professional result, you may want to find a different tool. ... show more

  • Great tool to help stay organized
This is a nice, small but sturdy hole punch that surprisingly does a really good job of punching multiple holes in paper for diy planners, work files or thin workbooks. It took a bit of experimentation to line up the holes properly; however, once I was able to figure out the correct placement of the paper, it worked well. I like that this works on different-sized paper and that it's a compact size that does not take up a lot of space when not in use. Overall, this is nice to have, and it helps keep work files organized and neat. ... show more
