The night vision monocular performs day and night 8 X digital zoom. The unit has a rechargeable battery (make sure to take off the black tape at end-of battery), a 1.5 inch LCD display and a manual knob focus. Daylight display is i full color, night vision is provided with a builtin infrared light sourceand the night vision display Is quite clear in black and white. An external battery charger is included so you can have an extra battery charging outside the monocular. The sd card is included so you can take pics and videos right out of the box. Very pleased with this device.

I really wanted to like this item as I have been looking for a good night vision device. Out of the box, this seemed a little light weight, but I get that light weight can be good for some applications, so no big deal. There were some things that I did like about this; the night vision is very good and the infrared light REALLY brightens up the landscape, and you cannot see that light AT ALL if you're not looking through the scope. So, it works, and it does work well as a scope. But things went downhill from there. The screen is small, with a very narrow field of view. Fully zoomed out, at about 60 feet from a target, the width of the field of view was about 10 feet. That is very narrow, so you really have to be looking right at what you want to see as this isn't going to be good for searching at no zoom and zeroing in on a higher zoom. The field of view just isn't that wide. The picture in the description of following a bird in flight simply isn't going to happen with the narrow field of view. But then it gets worse...the instructions have the buttons mislabeled exactly backwards, and it looks like the panel that includes the buttons on my unit was installed backwards. That took a little while to figure out, and now zoom in and zoom out functions, as well as IR intensity up and down, are backwards, and not intuitive. The instructions also have a diagram of the screen to to tell you what the icons mean, but the picture doesn't match my screen, nor is it labeled in the instructions. The instructions are detailed but still poor. I couldn't get it to take a picture or video, and when I finally was able to get a menu screen, it's in Chinese. There is no information in the instructions whatsoever about the menu, which has several options, all in Chinese. Occasionally messages pop up on the screen, in Chinese. There is no English option, and while I understand that this was made in China, it is marketed in the US and isn't labeled as a Chinese language only product. I tried everything I could in the menu to try to find a place to change language and couldn't find it. Then, it is supposed to connect to your computer (according to the instructions) via USB cable. That didn't work, so I took the SD card out to see if I had taken pictures that I just wasn't aware of, and the card wasn't formatted, (which would explain why I cant take pictures) but it is apparently defective because my computer said that it was unable to format the card and to ensure that it wasn't corrupted. The card that shipped with the unit is no good. So, while it is good for night vision in a very narrow field of view, it doesn't do anything else that it said it would do. I would increase the stars if I could even get to an English menu, so that I could at least troubleshoot, but I can't even do that. If I get another card, and can find the English menu, I'll revisit the review and provide an update, but I would stay away from this if you want to avoid frustration.
