When I was shopping for one of these mats, it looked like there were a lot of lower quality options available, and many of them were non-standard sizes. I really wanted one of these to complete our outdoor batting cage, but bristled at the $400+ price tags from several baseball equipment websites. I had this in my cart for a few days before deciding to give it a try. I am so happy I bought this! My neighbor has the $400+ one from a baseball supply website, and when I opened this one it was the exact same quality! Since our cage is outside, a rubber backing was a necessity. Several options on Amazon have felt or foam, which would not have held up to the elements. This mat has a thick, sturdy black rubber backing which keeps it flat (even during a hard pivot) and prevents any slipping. The pile is good quality and feels like it will last for years. I am so happy I took a chance on this mat! The only thing I'll mention about the design is that the lines are not painted . . . they're actually white turf, which makes them super bright and white - very nice. However, the home plate is painted on, so it's not as vibrant and white as the lines. I don't see this as a negative, but some buyers may be surprised by that. This is an excellent value for your personal indoor or outdoor cage. Perfect weight that doesn't require two people to roll it up and carry (like professional mats do), but thick enough and of good quality to withstand a few years of abuse. I will tell you that this is the highest quality baseball Matt that I have ever seen. Even better than the one in my son's indoor baseball training facility. I am completely shocked at how green it is. How easy to clean it is. I can jjst leave it outside and vaccum it and its as good as new. And it is heavy. Here in Florida we've been having a lot of wind and that has stayed in place without moving. Honestly I see this as an investment for my son's baseball training. So I highly recommend it. This mat is thick, heavy and big! It’s not something you want to lug around; that being said it’s nice quality. It’s not going to tear on you and it’s great for an indoor facility or for outside use. You can use it to protect the plate area if it’s muddy and you don’t want to ruin the field.

Seems halfway durable and if you planned to use it on concrete or smooth gravel, it could maybe work, but it's super lightweight. We bought it for our batting cage, in which we have artificial turf, and it moves, bunches, and slides every time you swing a bat. Basically, floats on top of the turf (which is a medium plush) because it doesn't weight enough to sink into the turf. It's cheap enough but we ended up returning it. ... show more

The material of this mat is good quality. The lines are the same material as the overall mat and colored white in the fabrication process. However, the plate area is painted on over the red grass. The paint does not bond well to the grass fabric and is already coming loose. This mat has never been used outside. Always covered in a dry environment. 2 months old. The price of this mat is not justified by the quality. There is probably a better option unless the home plate is not important to the buyer. ... show more
