Color: Brushed Brass Vintage

Description

First produced in 1933, early Zippo lighters were rectangular in shape, and a 1/4 inch taller than Zippo lighters produced today, with the entire hinge soldered to the outside of the lighter case. Today, Vintage lighters are still manufactured in Brushed Brass, Brushed Chrome, High Polish Brass, High Polish Chrome, Sterling Silver, and Street Chrome base models where they feature the iconic vintage slash. Each lighter has a bottom stamp signifying the year it was made, is refillable, and backed by Zippo's famous lifetime guarantee. All windproof lighters are American made in our Bradford, PA factory and come packaged in a gift box.

  • The real deal.
Color: High Polish Brass Vintage With Slashes
Solid, quality, tank of a lighter. Easy to maintain, easy to service or rebuild. As it wears it develops a pretty handsome patina, too. You're looking at about a year of everyday use in the pics. It's probably the last lighter you're ever gonna need. I'd get it again if this one would just die, lol.

  • Zippo, an American Classic
Color: High Polish Brass Vintage With Slashes
The media could not be loaded. This lighter is classic Americana. The sound it makes when you open it, light it, and close it, is so recognizable and iconic. Its design is old and has lasted almost a century. However, it isn’t without its flaws. First and foremost it’s a lighter. It doesn’t stay filled with fuel for long . Mine is brass and has the vintage design. The difference is the squared off body. The top and bottom are completely flat. I personally like this design better than the modern rounded design. It has fairly decent wind resistance better than a bic lighter but not as good as a torch lighter. It’s about the size of a match box and takes maybe a tea spoon full of liquid lighter fluid at a time. It can stay filled for about a week or two depending on how you use it and the temperature it’s kept at. The more heat it’s exposed too the faster it will dry up. This isn’t the best kind of lighter to store away for emergency situations because the fluid will evaporate and will basically just be a flint wheel. I have recently purchased a rubber gasket cap to help keep fluid from drying out. The seal replaces the cotton barrier on the inside of the lighter in hopes of keeping the fluid from drying out. I’m not sure how well it works yet but it seems promising. When you open the lighter it will smell like lighter fluid and the fumes from the flame are definitely harsher than those of a bic lighter. This lighter does require maintenance over long periods of time like replacing the flint and the wick. You can store an extra flint or two on the inside of the lighter, which is a really nice feature. The wicks seem to last a long time and there is some extra length stored on the inside. If you find yourself needing to trim it you can pull some out of the existing wick and trim it as needed. The lighters finish will not stay shiny and chrome. Over time it will develop scratches and scuffs as seen in my photos. The first few scratches will make you upset but after some time the entire lighter will be covered in them as if it were a brushed finish. If that’s an issue for you, don’t get a shiny lighter. Brass is a soft metal and will scratch faster than the steel lighters. Although the lighter does have its flaws I still give it a perfect 5 star rating for a few reasons. First off it’s not a disposable item like we are use to in todays day and age. There’s no plastic waste and really no waste at all. This lighter will pretty much last forever. I have never thrown away a zippo lighter. There’s really nothing on it that can break. Unless it gets run over by a car it should last multiple lifetimes. If you love the look of Zippos but hate the fluid evaporation and fumes, you can always get a torch lighter insert and just use the outer shell of the lighter. That will basically modernize the lighter and correct its design flaws. A zippo lighter is a great ice breaker. If someone ever asks if you have a lighter, it will always spark up a conversation. Update: I got the polished brass lighter. It will scratch easily because it is a soft metal. The last two pictures are the most recent. The lighter looks like it came with the brushed finish. If scratches bother you, I would recommend getting the brushed finish from the start to avoid any frustration. Also the rubber gasket I installed works well and keeps the lighter filled for about 2-3 weeks instead of just 1 week with the cotton stopper. ... show more

  • Corrosion
Color: Street Chrome
Like my first Zippo, the inside of the case is full of corrosion. I think this is normal and does not affect functionality but is worth considering when purchasing. The hinge on the case is also slightly floppy when held in the open position but is solid when closed. 4/5⭐ for me.

  • Awesome Vintage-Style Zippo
Color: High Polish Chrome With Slashes
I purchased several of these as gifts for a large event. After seeing the Zippo Vintage Series I immediately fell in love with this 1937 replica. I find them to be simple but very classic. The high polished chrome is super elegant. To answer some common questions, this lighter is USA made, ships without lighter fluid (though you can easily add some to your order, such as Zippo Lighter Fluid 12-Ounce), it is a genuine Zippo item in original packaging and with all warranties, and it ships in the standard Zippo box. The ones I received did not come in any special "Vintage Series" packaging. Pros: - Vintage design with all the quality of a (modern) Zippo lighter - Solid, dependable functionality - Lifetime warranty from Zippo Cons: - Polished chrome looks awesome in my opinion, but shows fingerprints and scratches somewhat easily. You may look elsewhere if this bothers you. - As with any Zippo, keep the lighter fluid handy because it get used and also will evaporate over time and with use Suggestion: In addition to the fluid mentioned above, I suggest picking up extra wicks and flints just to have on hand. For the marginal extra cost, it will save you from having to find and purchase them later. If you're new to Zippo, this kit is a good place to start: Zippo Gift Set - 4 oz Lighter Fluid 1 Wick Card & 2 Flint Card (12 flints) I hope this review has been helpful to you. I will gladly respond to any comments if I can be of more help with your purchase. ... show more
