This was a really easy installation. I would recommend two people for putting on the cover. Very sturdy and all the pieces were numbered so it was obvious where each piece attached to another. I purchased a new foam style mattress from Costco and I needed a platform to put it on. Traditional mattresses use a box spring but foam mattresses need a solid platform of some kind. I bought this particular platform because the height of it along with the height of the new mattress would make the bed the exact same height as my old bed. Putting it together was a bit tedious but pretty straightforward. I assembled it by myself but 2 people would make it easier. I got the queen size, 4” “box spring”. It’s really more of a platform with a metal frame and wooden slats. It went together easily and fit my bed frame perfectly. My bed was too high (a 10” mattress and a 2” latex topper) with the standard box spring and this brought it back to normal height so, halleleuia, bedspreads fit again. The box was 50# so it was a struggle (I’m a 73 year old woman) to get it indoors since UPS won’t come in the house. I used a hand truck and managed, but it was tricky. A friend helped me assemble it. Except for the weight, I could have done it myself. He had the good idea of assembling it on top of the old box spring. Then we just stood it up next to the bed, removed the old boxspring, and put it in place. This one came with a cover that looks similar to a mattress pad, not a zip around one. Putting this together was simple other than there are numbers and letters showing how to assemble in the proper steps. The letters confused me (maybe it’s just me, but idk what the letters were there for ?). Once we went only by the numbers we did fine . We had several interruptions during assembly but could have assembled it in 30 minutes otherwise. It seemed pretty lightweight and I wondered about how sturdy it would be, but once we got it on the bed and the mattress on, it seems sturdy enough. It is a little narrower than my bedframe so we put down 6 slats we had, under it for support so it wouldn’t fall through to the floor . With all the interruptions we forgot to attach the slats that came with it and put the cover on and then the mattress, so the mattress went all wonky and we were thinking what a piece of junk! Then I realized we had not put the slats on !!!! LoL….Once We did that and got all assembled correctly, it is fine. My big (football linebacker size) 18 year old grandson is sleeping on it and we haven’t heard any noise or had problems with the boxspring so far. We opted for the wooden slats over metal and they seem a little thin, but so far so good. The Velcro attachment is awesome as are the extra screws and the ratchet and Allen wrench that came with it. We have an older dog who likes to jump up onto the bed, so we decided to swap out our 9" box springs with a low-profile 4" one instead. My husband thought I was crazy buying a box spring that we had to put together, but during the assembly process he kept saying, "I am thoroughly impressed!" We both were impressed! It was super easy to put together, and everything was numbered. If you built Tinkertoys as a child, you can do this!! And not only did it include an allen wrench, but there was also a small ratchet wrench to make things even easier. And there were also a couple of extra screws, just in case. The wooden boards that install across the frame, they are sewn together and have Velcro on one side, and the fame has a Velcro strip, and you just roll them out and they are perfectly spaced and securely in place. And the wood seems to be of good quality, and not cheapo wood. I couldn't be happier, and I would highly recommend this box spring to anyone looking for a box spring! ... show more
