Wow! This has to be the best packaged item I have ever unboxed. We ordered the Queen size frame. It had a double outer box layer for protection. Then inside each styrofoam spacer was covered in plastic to prevent the gross foam mess that can happen when it breaks. The hardware was included in a nicely labeled bubble card with easy access to each type, including a whole extra bubble filled with extra peices just in case. All the wooden parts came clearly labeled and securely packed. Everything was in pristine condition. They even included a ratchet allen wrench, which was quite useful. I put this thing together mostly by myself and very quickly. I asked for help when attaching the side rails to the headboard just to make sure I got the angle correct. Every hole lined up and every bolt was the correct length. The slats are connected together by a velcro strip that attached securely to the rails. They even have nonslip tape strips to help keep your mattress in place. It went together like a dream and seems to be very sturdy. My husband and I have slept on it for a week now and have not felt even a slight wobble or squeak. Previously we had a solid wood platform sleigh bed with storage drawers. It practically took up the whole room with its bulk. This new frame is slight and minimal and beautiful! It's an amazing transformation and I wish we had done it years ago. The only thing I can say that is a slight con is that the headboard wood is not completely smooth like I expected. It has some slight rough texture in places, but not enough to be bothersome. It may be just part of the aesthetic. I will update this review after a few months of use. But as of right now, I can say I am completely satisfied with this purchase. ... show more

    • A good basic wooden bed frame

Waited for several weeks to do this review as we wanted to see how "things went" for a while with assembly and use of this bed frame. To be brief, it is a solid, quiet and nice looking wooden bed frame. First to note, is the use of finger jointed wood. Makes good use of wood scraps however, one has to hope the process used in joining/gluing the wood pieces together is up to par longevity-wise. That said, the fit appeared to be acceptable. The finish of the wood however, is not the highest quality. On the two side boards, each (outside surface) had a "divot" where it appeared that a belt sander or something dug into a couple places. Generally speaking the bedding will cover these flaws, but QC from the manufacturer needs to be better as I wasn't expecting this. The wood stain used is a nice & universal dark wood color so it should blend well with your other dark wood bedroom furniture. Secondly, the mechanical assembly was well thought out in the overall design of this bed frame. The only minor issue we had was with the metal support brace where one of the three metal legs was drilled & tapped for a larger bolt...why that was will be a forever unanswered mystery. Again, QC needs to be better. So, I had to make a quick trip to the hardware store for a replacement (metric). Assembly is intuitively easy...you really don't need instructions. I did cut some leftover carpet remnants for use as pads & placed these under each of the feet to help protect the floor. The supplied support slats, which have velcro attached, were evenly spaced and should be sufficient with support for any mattress and not affect mattress warranties (if that is a concern). Clearance is around 7 inches, so storing anything under the bed will be limited in height. Depending on your mattress thickness and use of/or not using a box spring may result in sitting a little low...so keep that in mind. You can always buy various sizes of risers/platforms/bunky boards to get to the height you desire. Thirdly, the packing/shipping carton is amazingly brilliant in how the manufacturer did this to protect the product inside....kudos to them. Lastly, this is a solid bed frame delivered in a box. Not the finest in finish quality but overall, it is surprisingly adequate whether you have low, mid or high class standards. We purchased this to use as an interim bedframe while we continue to look for a complete matching bedroom furniture set. We may just skip looking for another (furniture matching) frame as this one is performing well enough. I knocked off one star in the review because of the two QC issues mentioned....your mileage may vary. Thanks. ***EDIT: Do note there are different variations of bed frames being offered. Some have smaller sized side rails/boards that appear to have resulted in issues for some folks. As noted in the ad for the Deluxe version we purchased......"Deluxe bed frames are compatible with people who need greater weight support as it has thicker (5.75 inch frame) side rails on the side." ... show more

First, I'm an Aerospace Engineer by training. Poor design is the result of laziness. ZINUS is NOT LAZY and has done an outstanding job in shipment packaging, assembly directions, included tools and assembly hardware, and the quality of the product itself. I give them an A+ in every category. I highly recommend this bed. I took my time and carefully assembled this bed. It took me about an hour. I could do a second one in about 15 minutes. The directions are solely visual but every abutting piece is marked with a number, so it's as easy as matching number to number. Additionally, the bolts in the directions are shown to scale, so ensuring that you use the right bolt is as easy as comparing the bolt to the picture. A high quality Allen Wrench ratchet is included. I used a power screwdriver to spin in the bolts then used the ratchet to snug everything up. The packaging was excellent. They used aerospace grade packaging techniques: overboxed (box in a box) packaging, plenty of styrofoam to protect the wood and even plastic over the styrofoam to prevent friction between the styrofoam and the wood. Fantastic! They even included spare bolts and washers. They thought of everything. At 1/6th the price of a Thuma "The Bed", this is a superb alternative. ... show more

Disclaimer, we have not slept in the bed yet so I dont know its overall durability. Review is based on looks and assembly. Looks: It looks really good and above my expectations ordering on Amazon. Previously, I have never order furniture that we couldn't see in person so we were nervous. Assembly: I literally put this bed together by myself in the amount of time it took my wife to prep a full breakfast. They include a little ratchet wrench where every other "build something out of a box" company gives you a single allen wrench. This little tool was a life saver and made the process so much faster. No idea why every company doesnt include one of these with their products that need assembled. Sturdiness: As mentioned, we have not tested, but the wood seems to be of good quality. I didnt feel like any of the materials were cheap. I dont have any reason to believe that this will fall apart. Overall very pleased with the purchase. ... show more
