I bought the 3" one because my mattress was starting to sink in the middle and I woke up with bruises on my hips. I am super glad I did! There was a minor adjustment period where I felt like I was really sinking into it but even that was nice. No more bruises on my hips. It doesn't have a smell (either chemical or on-purpose scent; some of these while I searched seemed to be infused with smells and my allergic butt doesn't want that). I left it out for about a day to fully expand and then put it on my bed. The only thing I will note is that there are some tufts that have been ripped off by my cat's claws through the bedsheets. Not enough to effect its use, and that might stop when I've got a winter time flannel sheet on it? But just so the cat people know. It's not that he's scratching it on purpose, it's just from him jumping up and down onto and off the bed because it's only on the side where he does that. ... show more

My dog has two bolster type beds she uses, one in her kennel and one in the living area. She claws the bed to make a nest so the foam breaks down after awhile. I cut up this ZINUS mattress topper to the sizes I needed and slid onto the foam and zipped it closed. It works great to give her the padding she needs in her beds. I had a little extra left over that just fit the floor of her kennel that her bed will now sit on and giver her a little extra cushion in her kennel. Very pleased with the quality of this product. My guest room bed has a very firm mattress. I was looking for a topper to give the mattress a softer, more comfortable feel and this one does just that. The pad was very easy to unpackage and no chemical smell at all. I allowed it to sit for almost 2 days before putting it on and it was perfect. I got this to cut up and put into canvases covered in fabric, as decorative sound dampening in a WFH office. The 1.5" depth is accurate, it puffed up quickly after I unpacked it, and it is a fairly dense foam.     • Can not truly fix a lousy mattress...

I studied the reviews long and hard before purchasing within my chosen price point and selected Zinus. The mattress arrived in a timely fashion and unpackaged easily. There was no odor to speak off, laid out on top the bed before work and when I got ready for bed it was fully fluffed. I made the bed putting it under my mattress cover, so far it has tried to walk off of the mattress altogether, every week I need to readjust it. I am slightly overheated at night and I still have achy points because of my poor mattress as the title says this is only foam it cannot fix a lousy mattress. Being overheated at night is a bit better than it was before using this topper, but not significantly enough to warrant the titling of cooling as advertised. If given the opportunity it will rip relatively quickly, as I've had this on my bed for a while it has started to squish into a slightly larger size as it overhangs the full size mattress on all sides now where it did not as brand new you can't really see a pocket or an imprint is it does return to normal but the overall size of the mattress is different. ... show more

I can't answer the sleep quality, pain relief or comfort, though I'll bet they are great. This soft, spongy foam is the very best, most cost-effective thing I have found for packing and shipping breakable old ceramic figurines. So far it’s amazing! I recently bought a firm memory foam mattress for support, but it’s so firm it doesn’t even sink a little. I bought the 1.5 inch topper and it’s made my mattress feel amazing. I like that it didn't smell terrible when I opened it. I was worried because I am very sensitive but the offgassing was not overwhelming. The pad was so smashed and misshapen when I opened it that I didn't think it would bounce back but it did. I slept on it the second night but kind of regretted putting it on my bed so soon because I could still faintly smell the item. Sleeping on it was a relief. I had purchased a new mattress that was firm. It didn't feel as firm as it is at the store but when I got home and slept in it, I regretted getting a firm mattress. I bought this to give me a bit of a sense of softness and to mimic the feeling of my old Tempurpedic where I sank into it a bit. I am happy with it. Beware, it tears easily. I was rearranging it on my bed and my finger tore into it. So, be careful about how you handle it because it tore quite easily. I put it on under a mattress pad so that I wont be directly moving around on top of it and I hope that keeps it from tearing further. ... show more
