I love it. It was perfect for me because I just do YouTube videos. I expected a hissing sound but there was not any, but that might be the phantom power I’m using. Be aware that this is a condenser microphone and as such requires phantom powe to operate. I recommend the neewer 48v phantom power box because it works perfect for me and I have great audio. Thought this was plug n play for my computer. It is not. Apparently you need a preamp, a "shadow power supply" and possibly a mixer for this to work. Not exactly "work right out of the box". But who really knows, as the "instructions " are four sentences, all grammatically incorrect, including one which is "follow the instructions". Which ... um.... well, that sort of begs the question, doesn't it? I've met third graders who could right more comprehensive and coherent instructions. Well, off to buy a reputable brand of microphone for my computer! Printed my return label within 20 minutes of receiving! Clearly too cheap a product to continue wasting my time with. ... show more

Well, my 14 yr old got this for his Xbox. I tried it out and I got to say that his total cost with tax at $54 was well worth what he got and what he got with it. Very very well made and heavy duty. He has 3 big monitors and this attached to the extended arm and clamped to desk...he can virtually put the mic anywhere...paired with his pro headphones...he looks like a pro DJ sitting there running up my electric bill ;) ... show more

I bought this for my son, he likes it. He is recording stuff, looking at its price and reviewing it. I thought it would be best for a beginner and it turns out to be true. He likes recording with this. In summary, it is okay quality for beginners.

January 15, 2020, Purchase - This is an excellent starter pack if you don’t need to obsessed about the “noise floor”. I tried to use it for producing an audiobook and the microphone was just not capable of the sound quality I needed. I needed to pump the gain so high to improve the s/n and this introduces hiss. The pop filter and shock mount are excellent. The swingarm is adequate but I find I need to tighten the knobs to prevent it from drooping. I never used the existing XLR to 1/8 plug, nor the USB adapter. I bought a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen and Amazon Basics XLR-XLR cable. January 26, 2020, Update - I replaced the microphone with an MXL 770 and that has been sufficient. and permitted me to record four Audiobooks and pass ACX QA with very minimal mastering. August 19, 2020, Update - The table clamp has bent with the constant tightening to the point that the shaft is now out of alignment and needs to be replaced. The swingarm tightening nuts are still functioning but loosen up with each time the microphone is repositioned. The pop filter still working great for me. Conclusion: For the price, this is a fantastic starter set. If you are performing audiobook narration this is still a good place to start, but you will need to focus on upgrading most of the components within a year. ... show more

There's a lot here in the package, but it's not all that great. Let's start with the basics. The boom arm works well, but there are more solid options. It's great to start with but the joints don't tighten well and the slightest bump can send the arm reeling. The shock mount is fine, I've noticed minor reductions in vibrational noise. The joint on this, also, is atrocious. If you don't keep it tight, the mic will go tipping downward of its own volition. It fits the included microphone well, but is fairly small for my other microphones. We'll keep this part short: the USB sound card is absolute garbage. You're better off not even plugging it in. The XLR to 3.5mm is pretty useless since the sound card is very bad. I'd recommend a regular XLR cord since you'll need an audio interface to use the included microphone anyway, which brings me to the final item in the box... The microphone. The microphone itself is fairly all right. The audio quality (with an audio interface and XLR cord) is pretty clear. The microphone doesn't capture all ranges well, but not every mic will. If you're using the microphone as advertised, podcasting, streaming, gaming, etc., this is a great option. For music and vocals you can get away with using it, but it's going to need some cleaning up in an audio editor. In conclusion this is a great option for starting out recording anything. Everything you need is in the box, but it unfortunately doesn't all work as well as one would hope. You can tolerate the issues with the shock mount and boom arm, but the USB sound card really sours the whole package. If you don't have another option to plug in the mic, you're likely going to have to order another product or two. Once you get past this extremely high hurdle, the boom, mount, and microphone are good for their introductory value. I recommend the product for the value alone. If you're on a budget, the additional items that come with the microphone are worth it. A cheap audio interface (with good reviews) and an XLR cord will get you the rest of the way if you're interested in starting a podcast, stream, etc. ... show more
