  • Nothing new here
This is the best sounding mic I've used. Love it! Tonally it compares very well with the U87! Its response is extended on both sides and has a very useable pattern for studio work. The extremely low noise is just another benefit especially when doing quiet instruments. That's not to mention the design and execution of the shock mount, pop filter, and mic sock--all excellent! You can leave it on the stand and just cover it with the sock. All in all it's just a great system/mic that could use better packaging if you will be traveling with it at all. It seems a little on the light side compared to other high quality condenser mics, but still seems fairly rugged. Just my impression. For this price and it's intended use it's just a crazy good mic. I wouldn't get to rough with it, but I certainly try to be kind to all my equipment. Maybe it wouldn't survive a drop/fall like a Neumann...? None the less, just buy 20 of them and you're still ahead. ... show more

  • I received 1 microphone and not a matched pair.
I purchased this off of Amazon Warehouse. The product is supposed to be a matched pair -- which is currently selling on major authorized resellers for $550/pair and $250/individual (give or take a few bucks). Amazon compensated me for the wrong item--so I see no reason to rate it less than 5 stars. If you're expecting two microphones, simply be prepared to receive one instead--it sounds like some people did receive a pair; based on other reviews. All that aside, this is great microphone and I think you'll have a tough time finding an equally well rounded large diaphragm microphone for less than $1,000. ... show more

  • I made the best choice with my Rode NT1A microphone
After a long research for a mic with this warm firm old style powerful sounding, I decided to order the Roden NT1A mic. There was very few videos and reviews about it, so I was scared. Originally a mic like this costs $1000 and up. The best mics are $6000. This one though is only $220 but let me tell you that It captures sound like a $6000 mic. I love it, it makes my voice sound magical. It gives it a special vibration that pleasures the year. This mic is a professional studio mic that I also use for my movies now to capture the actors speech. Let me tell that it works better than any atmosphere mic I've used for my previous film. No extra unwanted noise. Its the best mic on the market, very popular among filmmakers and studio vocals and instrumental capturing. Number one in radio broadcasting. This is what you want, this is what you need. I am an independent artist and my review is personal and real, I am not payed to express positive thoughts, so you are safe relying on my words here. ... show more

  • Not as advertised
I ordered this expecting a matched pair. which in normal terms mean 2 mics right? So excited when it came opened it up and huuuh ?!?! Only one?? Sent it back and ordered it from Sweetwater which is what I should have done in the first place (slaps forehead) Nothing wrong with the quality of the mic from what I could tell. ... show more

  • Great Mic
Great for vocals, acoustic guitars, pianos and other strings. Don't know about bowed strings but I imagine it would work out fine. Very versatile, True and accurate recording. Won't give your voice an unnatural color. NT2 has more features for a bit more cost I think I might have gone with that if I had done more homework. ... show more

  • Most reviews complain about "misleading" matched pair... It's one excellent mic, not two
Just to wrap up my headline... although it says NT1-A-MP (Matched pair), it is clearly 1 microphone that could be used with another one (NT1-A or similar) to record in stereo and not mono. Perhaps it was cause I didnt even notice what the title said and I went directly to check the pictures - I am confused also bcs there are reviews like 15 years old... Anyhow, this microphone is pro quality (but it is not pro - I am not a pro either), great for vocals and instruments... heavy with the soundshock "basket" and pop filter, it is a descendant of flagship Rode NT1 which is even more heavier / sturdier. You need your own console or interface (A1-i) if you want headphone monitoring and USB connection (depends of what u want to connect it to). I still need to mention that I bought it completely new for USD 200 (so the price here I can't explain, BUT IT NEEDS to be sorted out). I did buy from Amazon just a couple weeks ago the Rode PodMic and the PSA1+ and the NTH-100, but the PodMic being dynamic is great for broadcasting, not for singing... The studio arm is a MUST for the the NT1-A because of the weight, there's no other such thing that you could use to position it well (u screw it from the shocking basket from one side, so the weight is not balanced) and any mic stand won't stand the unbalanced weight. Sound wise it is perfect for any singer and a home studio... it will catch really low noises so the setup is important or u could get rid of the noises if u adjust the interface... I do not regret this purchase at all. ... show more

  • It's hard to buy a mic without testing it out ...
It's hard to buy a mic without testing it out, but this hasn't let me down yet! I use it for amateur recordings and it suits my needs well.
