  • nice bedding for tortoise!
Size: 6OZ
First time using moss for our tortoise, Boogi. Moss looks much cleaner than other bedding we had used in the past. Even though it is my first time using it, I was very impressed with quality and quantity from the package. Only complaint I have is it has some kind of smell that may take a while to be removed. ... show more

  • Ok quality
Size: 6OZ
This isn’t the best moss I’ve had, but it also isn’t the worst. The moss itself seems good, but it has a lot of stray odd material mixed in - straw and twigs and stuff. I bought this for plants and it’ll work fine for that, I just don’t love picking out oddball material from my moss.

  • Not What I expected
Size: 6OZ
This is a very small qty of moss. it is flat not in a block like most spag moss items you get but probably about .5 inch thick by 10 inches wide packed moss. Its not a lot. Great for smaller terrariums or if you are needing for a quick project I guess but for 13 dollars You can get so much more moss that will last you a few months or weeks at least. ... show more

  • SO MUCH MOSS!
Size: 6OZ
Seriously, I know the listing says 8 quarts but when you receive this dried little brick it doesn't seem like it could possibly be THAT mu- THEY'RE NOT LYING! IT'S SO MUCH MOSS! WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH ALL THIS MOSS?! Mind, this is a pretty good problem to have. Is it the *prettiest* moss I've used? Not in the least! It won't win a beauty contest. But it does the job like any other dried moss you're using and you're going to have SO MUCH of it! For so little money! Put it in a large tub of water and just... wait. I cannot over-emphasize that you need to be putting this brick in a LARGE tub for its size. You are going. To have. Two entire gallons of sphagnum moss in about five or ten minutes. I hope you're ready. I wasn't. ... show more

  • So Much Moss.
Size: 6OZ
I was a little disappointed when I opened the package, I've never worked with this stuff before so it didn't seem like much, but once I popped it in some water it exploded! I now have more moss than I know what to do with. It smells great, nice and earthy. No bugs or critters crawling around inside, no rotten bits. Feels like high quality stuff to me. ... show more

  • dusty & long splinters of wood in it
Size: 6OZ
I got this for use with my frogs but after soaking decided against it. This is pressed flat, not in a block. It does fluff up like other compressed moss, but it seemed to have more dust and broken pieces and even splinters of wood than any other compressed moss I have used. After trying to pick through I decided to use it for my plants in a moss pole. Disappointing. ... show more

  • Great for snake sauna
Size: 6OZ
I have a Kenyan sand boa, I use sphagnum moss in a semi enclosed container, moistened to give him a humid area so that his sheds are less patchy. This tiny block expanded to a TON of moss and filled the container perfectly.

  • Turned Moldy After A Few Hours
Size: 6OZ
I've purchased Sphagnum from other brands before & I've prepared it the same way everytime. This time, I had leftover Sphagnum that I left in the open container that I prepared it in (Preparation : Add water, separate the Sphagnum moss, wring out & empty as much of the excess water possible) Less than 16 hours or so later, I noticed there was already a thin furry layer of mold starting to grow over some parts of the sphagnum moss. Needless to say, I had to throw it out as I will not be using it as a supplemental substrate for our reptile's tank anymore. ... show more
