I have the occasional Zoom meeting, and the built-in microphone on my laptop was barely adequate. This ZealSound microphone is worlds better, but it took me a while to get it set up correctly. Out of the box, there was a lot of reverb. The mic has a monitoring port on the back that lets you plug in a headset, so that you can hear how you sound. Using that, I was able to listen as I made changes to the settings. There is a wheel on the back for adjusting the recording level, the reverb, and the monitoring volume. A button on the front changes its function. Unfortunately, the wheel has no stop points and will just spin forever in either direction, making it hard to tell when you have reached min, max, or the middle. It took a bit of trial and error, but I was eventually able to eliminate the reverb, and now the mic sounds great. I knocked off a star for how tricky it was to make adjustments. The front has a mute button, and also some LED lights that can be set to different colors, or left to cycle through all the colors. It is kind of cool-looking, but not necessary. I set them to blue to match my other equipment. It comes with a very versatile cable/adapter assortment so that it can be connected to USB-A, USB-C or even an iPhone Lightning port. I appreciate that kind of detail. I don’t have a lot of experience with microphones like this, and was surprised by how big it is. On the tripod stand (included) it is 9 inches high, and the microphone itself is a sphere 4 inches in diameter. It’s hard to ignore on my desk. Overall, I think this is a quality microphone for the price. It allows for a lot of adjustments, and helps me to sound more like a human on my Zoom meetings.

This microphone works well when you remain within the manufacturer's suggested 6 - 12 inch range of the sphere, which is difficult to do with the provided desktop stand. I did not find it practical for gaming or much more because I had to lean in towards it and talk into the sphere for it to consistently pick me up. The tilt adjustment mechanism loose and moves around while adjustment the controls on the rear of the sphere. You have to poke the sphere in the front to choose what the rear knob does and then grab the sphere to adjust the settings on the back of the microphone making "touch" noises in your stream/recording if you don't mute or pause before adjusting anything. The USB cord and headphone cable also hang over the adjustment wheel. If you are using some other device to control your volumes, gain and reverb, these problems can be overlooked however if you are not using a mixer or post production methods these can be serious issues.

I think this zealsound mic is great for applications like gaming or discord. In the package you get very good convenient accessories, even for other devices. Like a USB-c to USB-c/usb-A cable. A usb-A to Lightning Adapter to connect to an iPhone as well. This microphone boosts a lot of premium features. It has rgb lights, a tap to mute button, a noise reduction mode (which personally I find too quiet), a monitoring port, and a reverb slider. The reverb, recording volume, and monitoring volume are modes all accessed on one button which is adjusted by a knob on the back. The knob has no top point or bottom point, it has a plus or minus but your position on the knob is just estimation since you can't tell when you top out or bottom out. This makes it a bit more difficult to adjust the reverb and volume to me. The volume is quite decent even at a far distance, which is really good for gaming. I find it cuts out a lot of noise outside of vocals naturally which is nice. I do think the sound quality could be a bit better, so I wouldn't get this for musical applications but it's quite good for what most users I believe will need it for.

I wasn’t expecting this much out of the ZealSound mic, but honestly? It’s a sleeper hit. Right out of the box, it feels premium—solid build, sleek RGB lights (which are a nice touch), and simple setup. Sound quality is way above what I was using before. The active noise cancellation actually works, cutting out annoying background distractions. I tested it for gaming, Zoom calls, and even a little podcast recording, and my voice came through crisp. Touch mute is a lifesaver—I can go silent without fumbling for settings. The real-time monitoring is another plus, letting me hear exactly what’s going on without any weird delay. Also, the echo feature? Kinda fun to play around with for dramatic effect.
