I purchased this to mount a home made camera lucida that I built. I needed a table mounted flexible holder and this looked like a good match. I also do quite a bit of home recording so I was expecting this to do double duty as a mic stand. I am very happy with the purchase. The flex gooseneck is flexible, but sturdy. It works well for both purposes. I surprised that the clamp was metal and had a bit of padding to protect the surface of the table when mounted. The mic end is a standard male 3/8-16 thread and an adaptor is provided for the more common US standard of 5/8-27. The mic adaptor provided is decent quality and fits a SM57 just fine. The quality is ok but it is short and I cannot return anyone. **UPDATE** After contacting the seller, they quickly identified a shipment error done by the distributor and sent me an updated version of the mic stand. It still functionally works for my needs, but I was expecting a longer arm from the picture as well as being more flexible. I can bend it into an arch, but it won't go any further past that, though not like I need it to bend at multiple angles to begin with. To help better visualize the length, 19 inches is roughly the same as two 500ml water bottles stacked high. I'd say it's still worth it to get if you don't need to be terribly far from your mic, or don't need to move it around a lot. ... show more

The mic end is 3/8” and has an adapter. But for some reason the clamp end is a 10mm x 1.0 thread which not only is incompatible with other sound items but is also a very hard to find thread size in the US (at least at big box home improvement stores). I don’t understand why they didn’t just make both ends of the flex arm the same 3/8” thread allowing you to use it either way around. I needed this arm to connect to a different clamp and ended up using a die-cutter to rethread the end of it for 3/8” so I could have a usable piece, but now the clamp it came with is useless. ... show more

It's sturdy enough to hold my Elgato Wave:1 mic which isn't a heavy mic but I've had issues with other mic arms having the opposite issue because it's so light it's hard to hold the mic in place. I was worried about the length but it's the perfect length to place the microphone without being in the way of the monitors and the neck is thin enough to not block the second monitor on my right at all. I can fully adjust it so that it's both near my mouth and out of the view of the camera for streams and Zoom calls. I was prepared to spend close to $200 for a low-profile mic arm to keep it out the way and on a whim I went with this gooseneck even though it wasn't the length I wanted (I'm thankful the longer arm was out of stock) and it worked nearly perfect, I was legitimately shocked with how well it is for my setup. I haven't tested it with anything heavier than the Wave:1 mic, but I'm confident it would hold something heavier because of how sturdy it feels. I do wish it had a better method of attaching to the desk clamp because of how easily it starts to unscrew with the slightest turn counterclockwise anywhere on the gooseneck. If the gooseneck arm was on a swivel to allow you to better move the arm without unscrewing it from the base it would be the perfect mic arm for me. Maybe even a locking quick release mechanism instead of a standard screw on method. I paid $23 for this and would gladly pay another $10 if it had a better attachment method. ... show more

I use this goose neck to attach a 400g xlr microphone to my desk and it gets the job done. It's not as adjustable as a boom arm, but it's easy to transport, which is my preference at the moment.

Buyer Beware! This does not work, at all, in any way as advertised. The rod strength is not capable of holding an AT2020 and can hold an AT897 for about five minutes before it starts 'drooping'. This is an RMA. I Hate writing bad reviews, especially around Christmas... But this product should Not be on Amazon or any other reseller site. ... show more
