Luckily I live in a place that affords year round diving and I have dove with the Scout continuously for the last ten years. The only reason I am replacing it is one of the quick release valves broke after I accidentally dropped something on it. I love this bc and replaced it with the same one

The scout is my first back inflate BCD. I should first say that i am a large diver 250#. so i displace a lot of water. my first BCD was a Seaquest Pro QD purchased in 2003. The scout is more comfortable on the warm water dives with less than 12 # of lead. but when i went to the 3mm wetsuit and had to add more weight a weight belt was required to maintain balance. so if you don't mind the weight belt your in good shape. I love the weight of the scout, my large weighs in at 6.2# as compared to my Pro QD at 9.8#. I did notice that without the backboard the scout is a little more difficult to slip into. my scout also came with pockets witch are to far back and to small to be of much use. this seems to be the case with most BCD. The scout also packs up small for travel, that allows me to travel with one suitcase. and makes it easier to put into my dive bag while the boat is moving. I should also say the two cam-lock tank straps are a nice improvement over the old scout. I was a little disappointed that the adjustable comber-bun is not removable because the shoulder straps are sewn to the cumber-bun. I also like the open loop shoulder strap design that allows for extra equipment without the d rings. ... show more

I have been diving for about 15 years, always with a vest BCD. I have my Master Diver certification. When it was time to upgrade I thought I'd try this BCD. I LOVE this BCD! Back inflated is definitely the way to go. It is so comfortable and makes maneuverability and buoyancy effortless. I've never been so comfortable while diving. Don't worry about any reviews of back inflated BCD's causing you to go face down on the surface. It's so easy to control with the back trim pockets. Anyway, you buy a BCD for underwater instead of surface, right? ... show more
