Specs: BIOS F8f i7-12700K 32GB (2x16) Kingston 5200 MT/s DDR5 Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 GTX 1080 It is a very solid motherboard. The build quality is great. The overclocking (OC) presets are good but the CPU runs too hot at the 5.1 GHz (all-core) preset so you will need to under-volt it so your CPU does not thermal throttle. It has a default OC that will OC your CPU right out of the box. It also has a gaming OC preset and all-core OC preset. I can recommend this motherboard but only if you would be okay to risk using Gigabyte RMA services. I have seen countless YouTubers, such as JayzTwoCents, Gamers Nexus, Graphically Challenged, etc., and read a bunch of Reddit posts of bad RMA support from Gigabyte. However, I have contacted Gigabyte support to ask for help on some issues and they are pretty quick to respond. From my experience, they have great customer service. I have not had to deal with an RMA though. This is a solid mobo and I am overall very happy with the purchase. You can run your 12700K at 5.1 GHz all-core at low temps with an AIO (280 or higher) and possibly some dual-tower CPU coolers. Just keep in mind that the heat emitted from the dual-tower CPU cooler could decrease the lifespan of your other hardware, such as your RAM. A small chance of that but still a chance. I OCed my 12700K to 5.1 GHz all-core and, under load (Intel XTU and Cinebench R23), it reaches up to 75°C. If I use Sony Vegas to render a video using the CPU, it will not go above 65°C. It usually stays in the 50s. If I open a game, such as Minecraft, it will jump to 55°C and then stay in the 20-30°C range the entire time I game. More production-heavy stuff like video/photo/3D editing/rendering, will not go above 65°C. It comes with a Dr. Debug LED and LED troubleshooting lights. It also allows you to start your mobo without the case power cables connected. You can also restart this mobo without the case reset cable. The reset button is the white button to the right of the CMOS battery. The audio is great too, no mobo feedback in the headset. The MOSFETS stay cool under load - about 55-60°C. It works just fine with Windows 11. In my case, I did not have to enable secure boot or TPM 2.0 as it was already enabled by default. Windows 10 will work fine as well. If you have any issues with DDR5 RAM, just make sure this mobo supports your DIMMs of choice, and please pay attention to the BIOS version. If you have any issues, such as RAM incompatibility, download and install the latest BIOS, which is F8f at the point of writing this review. They list what changes they made. Most RAM will just work even if it is not listed in the QVL. However, the QVL is just a safer option especially since DDR5 is so new. It also has very subtle RGB that you can configure (the "AORUS" located on the VRM heatsink). I set mine to the wave. You can also set it to stay on while your PC is in sleep, hibernating, or shut down. Overall, I love this mobo. A Dr. Debug, power and reset switch on the mobo itself at this price is just insane. The only thing it skimped out on is Wi-Fi 6E. It has WiFi 6 though. That is not a deal-breaker for me because I use ethernet but the Wi-Fi works great, nonetheless. I tested it and got great and consistent download speeds (537.19Mbps) on my Wi-Fi 6E router at 1.2Gbps. There are some tricks to increase your Wi-Fi speeds but it takes some CMD knowledge. The bottom of the antenna is magnetic, so it has no issues staying on your case. It kinda makes it look like a shark. If you use ethernet, you'll add it on top anyway for looks lol.

Originally bought this mobo at the recommendation of a Tom's Hardware article. Stating great price, and performance. I realize I was using bleeding edge RAM with a bleeding edge chip. Figured I could use a middle of the road mobo to get the job done. I was dumb. I like Gigabyte Aorus and have used them for several home brew PC builds for my friends, in the past. This one just didn't work out. The biggest issue was DDR5 Ram slots. No matter what I did, or what BIOS I flashed to, the best I could get was two slots (A1&A2) to recognize my GSkill DDR5 Trident Z5 RGB 16 GB ram Sticks. Yes I memtested the RAM. Yes I checked the CPU for bent pins..but uh...yeah there are no pins. Reset the CMOS....hell I even sacrificed a chicken. For the two RAM slots I could get to work, I could not get the latency to the rated RAM set. If I wanted to used XMP I could only use one stick of 16 GB. Frustratingly the latest BIOS update from Gigabyte was literally for the EXACT Gskill RAM I had, and it didn't effin work. DO NOT BUY THIS BOARD IF YOU ARE USING DDR 5 RAM. There are hours of my life that I want back. It was dumb. Moving onto an MSI MEG Z690 UNIFY..a little more cash, but from what I have read, very few issues with DDR5 RAM. GIGABYTE...FIX YOUR CRAP. -Updated 7/30/2022 -- Changing to 3 stars..up from 1 Here I was thinking it was the motherboard manufacturers fault. I stand corrected, its the whole z690 DDR5 situation that needs fixing. I purchased an MSI board shortly after raging about the Gigabyte situation. And wouldn't you know it..I got the EXACT same issue again. I could only use RAM slots B1 & B2. This of course is a non-optimal pairing, but what can you do. I am going lay this out really clearly, none of these boards seems to be handling the new DDR5 ram. Read all the reviews you want on youtube or Tom's hardware, none of them will mention this. However if you google "Z690 DDR5 RAM Not Posting" , you will find many posts all pointingto the same issue. Users are only able to get two slots working. The working theory is voltage stability issues arise from having more than two sticks. I feel like a chump and betrayed by all the sights I used to review and educate myself on, before making this purchase. Had I known...it would have saved me lot of grief. I have been hobby building computers for the last 20 years, I am no super twitch, tuning, OC kind of guy, but I know how these things come together. I spent the last week banging my head against a wall, between checking bent CPU pins, not firmly seated RAM...updating bios, memtesting RAM....and at some point seriously questioning my ability as a home brew pc hobbyist. It was a relief to discover it actually wasnt me....then I got angry...at the companies pushing this garbage, then at review web-sites espousing the same trash as well. In sum...yes you can use this board. In fact I like it more than the MSI, but I already sent it back. Oh hindsight you rascally thing. However, if you want to use DDR5 Ram, they ..( and nobody else for that matter) has figured out a way to get more than two sticks working...in most cases. Order your RAM size accordingly..or go with something that works...DDR4...sure its slower, but like I defy you to show me a difference in instant gratification. I hear quiet whispers about changing Ring Ratio and upping voltage....did that...didn't work...go away. Anyway Gigabyte, I loved a lot of features of your board...just wish it worked with 4.

So I bought this MB to be the base of my new PC and the first board I ordered came with 2 bent pins, which I noticed something looked funky when I took the lid off the cpu socket but installed anyway because I was not sure and I ended up having to disassemble the PC and replacing the board, when I took a photo and zoomed in I could clearly see the broken pins. Oddly enough the system worked with the bent pins but I couldn't get the memory to run in duel channel and after replacing the board it now works fine. I did have to do a bios update to get it to recognize my WD sn850 SSDs and install windows. I found the process fairly easy and everything worked fine after the update but I don't think this board is very noob friendly if you're uncomfortable doing bio updates I'd probably not get this board or anything with DDR5 and stick with the older DDR4 format which is more solid and established tech so less headache for newer builders. I haven't overclocked anything either yet mostly because the I7 12700k and Kingston DDR5 5200mhz ram I installed are already plenty fast for my needs right now so I haven't felt the need to over-stress the system. Gigabytes Tech support though is worthless, you have to write out your life story and wait days for any response, fortunately Amazon has a good return policy so it was not an issue but if there is an issue down the line with their products I'd probably dump it in the trash and just get a new board rather than deal with convoluted repair policies and tech support. Bottom line is this is a good board but not for beginner builders.

Rolled the dice on a "used" board for Prime day. The thing had never been used. It was all still wrapped and they hadn't even opened the m.2 screws. Using DDR5 with XMP. Great motherboard and saved like 60% off cost.
