It was a direct fit, the built in heater was defective and kept the thermostat open continuously so the engine ran cold and there was an active fault code 0598. The only way to make the thermostat work correctly was to unplug the heater circuit. Doing this made the cel stay on. I ended up buying an AC delco, problem solved.

Way better than the plastic housing.

Product has great exterior build made out of aluminum, making it slot better than the O.E. plastic design. However, since i first installed it, I noticed my temperature gauge rising above the regular operating range and suspected the thermostat or something on the housing kit wasn't working properly. It would go back down to normal after driving the car for a minute or two and after the cooling fan kicked in to help the coolant cool back to normal. However as the weeks progressed (I only had it on for a month) it got worse until it seems the thermostat finally seized completely closed and caused my car to almost overheat while at the same time making my upper radiator hose to burst from the overly high coolant pressure. Another tell tale sign at the end was the lower radiator hose where the thermostat and housing is connected was completely cold while the rest of the system was starting to overheat. Replaced it with a new plastic housing one with new built-in thermostat, and the problem was fixed. Like I said before, great external aluminum build, but the thermostat inside was no bueno.

My thermostat housing had cracked and was leaking, a common problem in sonics after 100,000 miles. Largely due to the plastic housing. So when I picked up the identical replacement part, plastic and all, I figured that it wouldn't take too long to swap it out, I had the OEM part if things went pear-shaped. I think the aluminum upgrade is the way to go, I hooked it all up and everything seems to be running as expected. I've left my OBD sensor hooked up and checked it periodically, after about 2 weeks everything is running as it should. So far this seems to be a solid replacement.

Seems well made and I like that it's not plastic. Going into a 2019 Chevy Trax and appears to be a match but haven't yet installed. Overall, based on materials, build quality, and price point, I'm satisfied with this product. As always, though, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. As such, I'll update this post once installed.

This stat is a 180 degree, it works but sets off multiple other cel’s along with a low voltage stat light. Your heat will not get as hot too. A 14 Cruze Ltz 1.4l is meat to run over 200 degrees. If the co. would fix the temp rating, these would be great updated stat
