This tool is designed to crimp heavy duty copper end terminations for heavy current carrying conductors and includes the compression tool (hydraulic) and a set of dies for various sized terminations. The tool is easy to handle and use and provides more than adequate force for crimping use. It has plastic covered handles and a rotary knob for releasing pressure. The dies are hexagonal (6 sided) and provide a neatly finished crimp on wires. All this comes in a 2 snap-closed plastic case with an operation manual. The dies are a bit loose and some tend to move around but that is cured by placing a small section of foam over the dies before closing the case which also cuts down on the rattle when the case is transported. A small inside portion of the case had been broken but the damage was insignificant so far as keeping the tool, dies and structural integrity of the case as intended. It had one additional die compared to some other offerings so that was a bonus. All in all, a good tool with easy to understand directions and a good build which should make it last quite a while in normal use.

Bought this for 2/0 battery cable. Turns out, the 2/0 cable was actually a little heavier than 1/0. The crimp was light on 2/0, but the 1/0 handled it, I just held off from cranking it down. This tool would've way over exerted the crimp. Said that to say this...this tool was a life saver. There was zero struggle, even getting positioned down toward the starter. (Extended the factory cable.) Performed lights out.

I needed to do a few 6 and 8 awg crimps while wiring a boat but did not want to drop big bucks on a tool that I would rarely use, so I decided to take a chance on this one. I was very pleased with its performance for the money. It made tight and secure crimps with copper sleeves pretty easily. My only recommendation would be to use the insert that's a size smaller than what you're trying to crimp as they do seem to run large. If you make a living working with wires, then this is probably not the tool for you. But if you're like me and just occasionally need to crimp a large wire, it will get the job done.
