    • Great for 'tracing' and making sketches
Simply put, this is very good for what it does at this price point. I purchased it to make outline sketches for watercolors. I did not need detail, just proportion and form, and found that I could get a fair amount of detail anyway. For those with concerns about the app, it is not needed, you can use any picture. For those that could not nee the image, make sure you are looking through the glass at your paper, and tracing the reflected image from the screen. You may need to adjust the lighting of your room or screen, there needs to be more light in the screen (brighter), but you still need to have light in the room. For those concerned with 'scratches', the plate comes with two protective films that are easily scratched to keep it safe when shipping; take both of them off. For those concerned about the color, yes, the polarized plate has a tint, which is normal. TIPS: adjust screen brightness based on room brightness; you need a balance. You can move the image around on the screen and line up the paper to make drawings that are larger than the screen image. Turn off auto rotate on your screen to keep alignment where you need it; this can only be done in some apps like Gallery. Overall, exactly what I needed for travel and getting proportions right for sketches. ... show more

    • Not worth it
First of all, the app needed to make this product work has not provided details about its privacy practices and handling of data to Apple. Since you have to use your cell phone or tablet, this was a red flag for me since the developer was from another country. Next the projected image is about the size of your cell phone screen. Way too small to be very useful except for the most basic of images. You can try to piece the image together or sketch one section at time, but I doubt that would result in a great image. While it's not terribly difficult to figure out how to put it together, there are no directions. And the app seems to decide arbitrarily that the file format of the photo you're trying to use is not supported. Took two photos of same image, same time, same iPhone. One was fine. The other was invalid format. Not worth the frustration. Deleting the app and returning it. Very disappointing. ... show more

    • neat tracing thing
So this was easy to set up and use. I actually really like the case it came in. keeping to keep storing in it when not using. Very nice. Then the pieces are easily put together and I can see my screen reflected fine and can trace. Can't do large items because it is only so big but that is ok. I also used not a device. You can't see the reflection of a photo if it is just there. But if you shine a light at your paper it reflects and then you can see it for tracing as well. So it works good for more than just phone, as long as you have light. I think this is pretty neat and easy to use. I actually got it thinking of my 5 yr old. He loves coloring and drawing and I thought he might like this too. He was excited when I showed him. He doesn't trace as well as I would but the practice is good! My rating 5 star - I really like this item, really made me go wow you should get this 4 star- I like this item and it is fine, but didn't go wow you need this 3 star- this item is alright but has a few flaws 2 star- quiet a few flaws I would totally go somewhere else 1 star- junk no good don't waste your time. ... show more

    • It Works & It Is Fun
This product is just too easy to use and a lot of fun. You do not have to be able to draw to enjoy it. I turn my smart phone upside down and place it in the slot. For me, and I am right handed, it is more comfortable to turn the holder where the image is shown to the right, rather than straight on in front of me. I have seen reviews stating people who use it are not drawing, they are merely tracing. So what? I do not think anyone who uses it intends to claim artistic greatness, nor will it will ever make an artist out of anyone who cannot draw, but it is fun to play with. One piece of advice: use a little piece of tape to secure the paper on which you are drawing so it will not slip, because, once it slips the least bit, it is very difficult to get your drawing paper back in the exact place it was when you started. The app is great until u have to activate it. Keeps failing. No help button or assistance in the app or website. Website comes across as shady. So be careful what permissions u grant and when.

I have tried so much to get this thing to work as advertised. No luck😥 it’s very clumsy trying to adjust it. I am sorry I bought it! My finances are extremely tight & this was a splurge for me. I have now decided after continually trying to work with it, to return it. Hopefully I won’t have problems! ... show more

I can not stress this enough, you have to download the app in order to have a great quality picture on the paper. The ease of use is great and performance as well only if you have the app. Consider yourself lost without it regarding this product.

Pretty useful. Not great for the finer details, but as far as just getting the basic outline of the image onto paper, it's great. This is probably the most in-proportion drawing I've ever done of my cat. You have to be a bit careful with the brightness of your screen, because if it's too high then you can't see through it, but that's a simple fix. And obviously mirror your reference photo before drawing so it's flipped the right way when you draw it. Overall, great for a quick sketch for things that are a bit more complicated or unfamiliar to draw. ... show more
