This really works. I was experiencing pooling on the bathroom floor after a shower. With this mat, the floor is bone dry. I took one star off because I don't love the look or feel. I put a rug over the top of it, leaving one side exposed so it can breathe.

I bought this bath mat to be used as a bath mat (but with winter coming, it might also work in the foyer when I enter with snowy boots). The mat is attractive, lighter weight than I expected. I like that there is a mesh mat to help it be non slip, and included in the package was a small round sanding paper. Although I had read about diatomaceous earth bath mats, I was still on the fence about them as they eventually break down (over a 4 to 5 year time frame, per my readings). Second, I read up on the absorption rate which helps to stop the growth of mold and bacteria (and this feature interested me). Less water pooling on the ground. However, I thought I would try this one because I liked the leaf patterns. As far as the absorption rate, I think the site over stipulates the time: 1st shower: it took about 5 minutes for my foot print to vanish, overall about 15 minutes from first wet to fairly dry. 2nd shower: it took about 4 minutes for the footprint to vanish and about 10 minutes for most of the water to dissipate. I am pretty pleased with the mat. It is not what I would call comfy looking, but it is more for functional purposes: no water pooling on the bathroom floor so things stay cleaner. I have not compared these kinds of bath mats prior to this purchase; therefore, what I can say is this mat is aesthetically appealing, and does what is says it will do. ... show more

I have been looking into diatomaceous earth stone mats for a while now but have held back for whatever reason until now. I am happy that I made the jump. It drys super fast and is highly absorbent. The surface of the stone mat itself is also non-slip. I love that it's eco-friendly. It is also mildew and moisture-proof which makes it more hygienic than standard fabric mats. I also love the leaf design. Included along with the mat is a anti-slip pad to place underneath as well as a small circular piece of sandpaper for removing stains.
