Not sure about this product for curling hair as I wasn't able to figure out how to use it for that. However, there is a technique to that, so I'm not going to knock too many stars. $30 for this product as a straightner only would STILL be justifiable, and that is why I recommend it. It does an excellent job of straightening hair. (FYI: My hair is on the straighter side with some wave, and more wave on the inner half of my hair closest to my scalp. So, I have no idea how it works with curlier hair. But, for my hair type, it performed outstandingly.) I love that the heat level is adjustable, so that you can figure out how hot it needs to be to work effectively. If your hair is on the thicker side like mine, you'll probably have to go with one of the higher levels. For me, between 400 and 420 seemed to be the sweet spot. If your hair is coarser, you'll probably have to use level 450. My hair is almost down to my waist and I found that for straightening, the size of the product accommodated my long hair. It might just not be a large enough product for curling long hair, so that could have been why I wasn't able to use it for that. I'm going to play around with it some more and if I have better luck using it as a curling iron, I will update my review. I love that there is an auto-off safety feature, and that the metal infrared plates light up red when the product is on. Beware that the device heats up almost immediately. I think it took about 30 seconds to reach full heat. Also, please note that you need to press down on the On/Off switch for about three seconds before it will turn on or off. This is a good flat iron! I love the curved edges to allow you to also curl your hair. The curved edges also allows you to get closer to the root to straighten. This is a good little hair straightener for travel. However it’s way too hot for my fine hair. At 430° I think it would be more for thick strong hair in good condition.
