  • Blackout Estimate isn’t accurate (Updated)

The blinds are nice, albeit very expensive. The worst part to me is that the estimated black out is erroneous. For instance, the grayish white ones should be 90 percent; however, it is more like 60-70 percent with full light…these were installed in the bedroom and the light wakes me up, nearly as it would with just regular blinds. Frustrating since there is really no where else to install them but where they are. Installation, while not hard, is time consuming. Installation could be made easier and instructions are just pictures that are not altogether clear as to what the steps are, though it can be surmised. I would think to go with a different type of blind for the bedroom at least. These are fine where the amount of light filtering is not a concern. UPDATE: Credit Yoolax for following up on my review and attempting to assist. They were responsive and attentive, even shipping two new blinds. Interestingly enough, I was expecting just the fabric rolls, as they were deemed faulty from a light filtering standpoint, but received one with a motor and one that was manually operated. A little strange and a bit of a surprise but actually somewhat pleasantly surprised on the off. Interestingly enough once again, the brackets they shipped, which were not needed, have changed as well as the remote. It took me awhile to figure out the remote, since there were no instructions and I had to discover a YouTube video on how to add a blind to a channel on the remote. But I just simply installed it using the brackets that were already in place. After figuring out the tricky remote issues — the old remote could not connect and so I had to use a remote from a newer blind that I recently received — the blind still let in about as much light as before. The only practical solution I could think of is to wedge something against the fabric, so that there is a very little gap between the overlapping fabric layers. Still, this is not really a good solution, as it creates for more manual work than just manual blinds, which I was trying to avoid, and only mitigates the lighting issue. There is too much of a gap as it is and this problem will never be solved with the gap that exists on both sets. You would think that a company that specializes in blinds and has fielded customer complaints on this issue — as I read a couple other reviews citing similar issues — would either figure out how to make this work or quite simply adjust their advertising. While I am thankful for the extra blinds, albeit that I can’t really use elsewhere without it being a little clunky in that they were specific to custom windows — I would have rather just known upfront that this wasn’t what I needed to achieve what I was looking to achieve — which is stylish, motorized, blackout blinds with light filtering. I have wasted a lot of time and invested a great deal into blinds that do not work like I was hoping. I wish I had gone with the roller blinds and not these for the bedroom. I cannot give more stars to my initial review with this unresolved. Like I mentioned, good customer service for the attempt at least to make things right, bad engineering, QC/QA and advertising that should really be reconsidered. And beyond the light filtering issue, the remote they send is not user friendly and there are no instructions unless you find a particular YouTube video and forward all the way to the end of the video. Get it right the first time and make everyone’s lives a little easier, or continue to try to save the day when things do not go as they should. ... show more

I found these blinds from an Instagram post I came across. I’m often skeptical about off brand things ordered from Amazon but they looked nice and they’re definitely cheaper than some of the other places I’ve looked. I decided to order one for my daughters room. The whole process was easy. I’ve measured windows before for other blinds and shutters so I was familiar with what to do. Nevertheless I browsed the manufacture instructions, made my measurements and submitted my order. The manufacturer does their due diligence to follow up to make sure you’ve measured correctly and to confirm your order. The blinds I ordered were expected to arrive within two to three weeks. Instead I received them after about a week. That was lightning fast! Keep in mind it was a single window order. Packaging was great and instructions for installations were clear and easy to follow. Overall this was no more difficult then any other blinds installation. I fell in love with them right away. The blinds roll up and down smoothly! Not too slow and not too fast. You can stop them at any point to your liking. They stop and the bottom and top on their own. They look fantastic ! For anyone hesitating I would recommend you take a chance.
