It was advertised as weighing one pound but it feels heavier. Much sturdier construction that others I have used of that size. It really is compact and about the size of a water bottle, so it will fit in those side pockets that backpacks and purses have for water bottles. The case is sturdy and has a good zipper. The only thing I would have to say that is negative is the handle. This umbrella is good -you can even fit it into a little eyeglass-type case they give you which is miraculouss….and it’s a perfect purse size and weight…. The problem is that it is difficult to use! It gets stuck when you extend it and close it. Eventually if you fiddle with it enough you can manage. But it is definitely not something you can whip out in a sudden rain storm and be dry in a flash. I am hoping it will loosen up a bit after use bc I was planning to buy a few. I love the waterproof case that comes with this umbrella! It’s perfect to toss in my purse on any given day and I don’t have to worry about having to carry around an umbrella all day.
