  • Yeti, what is quality? Apparently not keeping liquids cold....
Color: Stainless Steel
So, I own a bunch of Yeti products. More than I want to admit. I've been a bit fan, until now. This particular Rambler bottle has made me wonder what "quality" means to Yeti. The bottle is unable to keep liquids cold overnight, from a chilled bottle with ice. By morning all the ice in the bottle is melted and the liquid is warm. My assumption is that it lost its vacuum. I have a Thermos bottle of roughly the same size and shape and it will keep liquid cold with ice intact for almost two full days. So, what gives Yeti? So I submit the form to Yeti (apparently they no longer take support calls) and wait 4 days for a response. I get a response asking for additional photos and additional "explanations" of the problem. More than the 3 photos I already sent (of a bottle with no visible issues) and the previous explanation (very thorough) and wait another 3 days. I get a response back "based on your issue your Yeti isn't covered under warranty because it is not a defect. Not a defect? The bottle is intended to keep liquids cold. It cannot do that. So you are telling me that is not a defect when a competitors bottle does so for 2 days and it's 10 years old?? So I escalate back and get a response that "we will give you a "one time exception". Gee, so your bottle doesn't do what it's supposed to do and you are going to "humor" me, one time, instead of admitting as much and doing what you should have done in the first place? Yeti you have lost your way. You've sent your manufacturing overseas to you know where and your quality has suffered along with your "legendary" customer service. You've also lost a customer, likely for life. This is very disappointing from a company that charges a premium for products that are appearing to be inferior to products that cost less and should not be as good. ... show more

  • Foul tasting
Color: Black
I own 8 Yeti products, so I am generally a fan. My complaint with this 18 oz. Rambler bottle is that the cap makes everything in the bottle taste nasty. Ironically, I once responded to someone making this complaint, assuming that he simply wasn't washing his bottle often enough. Any vessel you put your mouth on but don't clean will smell bad after a few days, no? But that is not the problem. The plastic cap on this bottle stinks horribly. I wash my bottle after every use. I have tried soaking the cap in warm soapy water. I have tried soaking in Efferdent solution -- which always cleans water bottles perfectly. I have taken off the O-rings and washed and rinsed them thoroughly. Nothing helps. The lid retains a nasty smell that is like a mix of fruit juice and stale coffee. My guess is that the plastic in the O-rings is the cause. Maybe they absorb and hold odors. I now use my bottle only to carry ice cubes, which I transfer to my Yeti mug as needed. I no longer drink from the bottle. The chug cap is the least efficient lid for this purpose as the insulation is better with the other lids. ... show more

  • Chug Cap is a fail for Insulation
Color: Navy
The Chug Cap makes the bottle better from a sanitary standpoint. However, in terms of insulation, it’s a complete fail. This bottle is sweating more than “Ted Stryker” in that “Airplane” movie from back in the days. This happens because the threaded part of the cap is made out of plastic without the foam insulation that is present in the original cap. If you are looking to have cold water for a complete shift of work, the Chug Cap will not help you!!! ... show more

  • From the land of Hydro Flask
Color: White
Well hard to say sometimes, but we live blocks away form the Hydro Flask HQ and have enjoyed their company and products since they started up, They are a great company making creative wine cups to growlers we have or have had so many it's ridiculous but you need a lot water were we live and using reusable vessels is critical. Ok, why would we step out and try a Yeti? Well it had a lot to do with our refrigerator : / This Yeti Rambler 18 is the perfect size to fit into our professional trim refrigerator and we can add ice and then filtered water. All larger Hydro Flasks were too tall and we had to angle and contort to add ice and then water that ended up all over the floor. We tried everything and the hassle lead to us no packing water daily. The Rambler 18 performance is amazing, not better, but equally amazing as the Hydro Flask and I really have no interest in testing just how long the ice lasts or whatever the criteria may be. Bottom line is this is our families flask of choice and we use them every day and keep hydrated all the time. Sure we also have two Yeti coolers and expect good quality but sometimes when you are dealing with quality products, size, shape, and usability is key. For us today and our relationship with our refrigerator the Yeti Rambler is awesome. ... show more

  • Chug cup is great, just need to keep it dry
Color: Navy
Our entire household has one of these beauties! Our ages are 4 to 84 and we couldn’t “live” without them. For Beach trips, Disney trips, shopping trips, heck even keeping our water icy cold overnight, this thermos is top notch. I’m fussy about them staying clean and they are super easy to wash. I have a 26oz and my boys have the 18oz size, all with the chug cap. IMO chug cap is so much better than straw——hence purchasing the 18oz size for the 4 yo versus 12oz with straw cap. Throw all the parts in the dishwasher and you can even boil the thermos to sanitize if needed. My only gripe is that with the chug cap, the smell that accumulates if you leave the cap on for extended amounts of time. Water gets stuck in the gasket area and you get a mildewy/moldy smell. It’s best to dry thoroughly and keep the cap off overnight if possible. I’ve never tried hot beverages in our Yetis but cold stays ice cold for at least 12 hours. I just fill to the top with ice and refill with water throughout the day. ... show more
