I’ve had this cup for 6 years and love it! It’s a tank! I use it daily and it has kept its finish. I want a durable cup that would keep my drinks cold or hot over long periods of time and this cup accomplishes that. The cup also prevents spills because it is difficult to tip over. EDITED: New content: So, after reading all the reviews about how this mug was marginal at keeping things hot, I basically agreed with that sentiment. BUT, I realized I had rarely used it with the lid on. NOW, the lid is vented, but it forms a good seal. I decided to run a bit of a test and I filled the mug with hot black coffee and left it on my desk. 6 hours later it was warm, almost the perfect drinkable temp. 6 hours. If 6 hours of keeping coffee warm for a small mug with a vented lid isn't enough for people, y'all might need to lower your standards. It could be better...the lid could give a spill proof seal. But really, that's about it. It doesn't fit in a cup holder, but I really like the wider base when it is sitting around my desk. More stability, less of a chance of ruined electronics. If you need a mug for the office (and not for travel to or from it) this is a solid buy. (END NEW CONTENT) I got this as a gift. We have a few YETI products and their reputation proceeds them, but this one was a bit of a let down. What this Is: This is a solid, heavy mug that will keep your hot drink warmer than average for longer than average. It has a nice wide base for stability, and the thick walls ensure that you don't get burnt simply by holding a mug with hot liquid. I also happen to think it's a decent looking mug. What it is not: This is not a travel mug that will keep your drink warm for hours upon hours like a fully sealed thermos might. It is not likely to fit in most of your cup holders. It also isn't spill proof, as the lid is permanently vented. If you need a stable mug to keep your drink a little warmer that's relatively easy to clean and you plan on using it at home or at the office but NOT in transit, this will meet your needs (albeit, at a premium price). If you want a spill-proof, travel ready mug to have on your commute, you will be let down. I wish YETI offered this with a sealing lid with a slider or something like that. My story may be a little different than most. I am a person with a disability and it's progressive so as I've aged I've lost strength and control in my hands and arms. It occurred to me recently, after some near misses, that an open mug of hot tea was becoming increasingly dangerous. We have Grande sized travel mugs that my hubby uses to make me a latte sometimes but for my middle of the night tea breaks I like to use our ancient Hot Shot and make my own. Problem is the receptacle height of the Hot Shot maxes out at 4.5" which will not accommodate most lidded commuter mugs. After reviewing all options out there I went with my YETI although the price was more than I intended. I AM SO HAPPY I DID! This thing is nearly perfect: Sturdy as heck. 14oz rather than 12 because of it width. The lid is secure but not too hard to put on. The handle is big enough for my larger lady hands. The lid slopes down towards the opening so extra liquid runs back in at the end of your sip. The visual design is gorgeous and flawless. Dishwasher safe! 5 year warranty but I know this thing will outlast me! Beverage stays warm for HOURS so I can ditch my desktop coffee warmer. My only teeny complaints are you have to be careful as you tip to drink as more will rush out than desired if you tip too quickly or far. I did burn my upper lip a bit before getting my technique down but that's on me. And it's a little heavy but overall I LOVE THIS THING! It is not spillPROOF but I am now safe from scalding sloshes.     • Rare when an item so decisively exceeds expectations
I bought one each of these for myself and my better half, and I can honestly say that they turned out to be even better than I was wanting. The finish is very good and durable, with a nice appearance and smooth contours throughout the inside and outside of the mug. The lid fits snugly, but not too much so, and the opening is just right to allow a reasonable flow when drinking. The only (slight) ding I would put in is that Yeti apparently doesn't sell the magnetic sliding cover for the lid as a separate option that comes standard on their Rambler tumbler that I also have and love. The mugs are also very large, holding 14oz, but I don't mind that at all, and they are constructed of stainless steel, so very sturdy and easy to clean. Of course, the real star feature of this mug is how well it keeps drinks hot, and when it comes to that, it absolutely crushes it. The day that I gave my wife hers (Christmas, of course), we sat down and had cocoa out of them just to see how well they worked, and we were astonished to find that the insulating properties are so good that we still couldn't drink the cocoa without the traditional hard blowing across the surface while sipping over a half hour after first filling the mugs! In fact, it works so well that I would caution anyone who normally goes straight to drinking hot beverages without hesitating after ten minutes to really take it easy and blow and use tiny sips for at least the first half hour after filling it up. Also, we found that drinks cool to tolerable levels much more rapidly with the lid kept off for at least 20 minutes, then the lid can be put back on to maintain the temperature longer. These little jewels work so well keeping drinks hot that they almost should have a warning label on the packaging! I will definitely be getting more of these for my brothers and in-laws.
