I’ve been using Hydro flask for years. But when Yeti decided to discontinue the Nordic Purple and the price dropped I decided to finally jump on it. These are my first Yeti coolers. They are superior quality compared to the hydro flask. I just received the hopper 8 today. I put the newer version of the Hydro Flask ice which is thicker and slightly larger than the older version. It fit like a glove. It can hold 8 cans of 12 oz Pepsi. I put the older hydro flask ice on top and there wasn’t any issues zipping it closed. I bought the Hopper 12 @ Dicks Sporting Goods a little over a week ago. It held ice for 3 days in my car in the Az heat. Impressed. Why didn’t I get this sooner. Well built, very sturdy cooler! I did think (especially for the price) it would be a little bit larger, though. But it works fine as a lunch cooler! The color is BEAUTIFUL and my lunch stays COLD, ALL DAY, which is a huge improvement from my previous cooler. The zipper takes some getting used to because it’s very difficult to open or close easily. I’m sure this is why things stay so cold and that it is totally waterproof as well. Overall, it’s a Great cooler, just very expensive so definitely “save up” and “justify the necessity” of truly needing a new cooler before purchasing. ... show more

I purchased the Yeti Thin Ice Refreezable Cooler Ice Pack when I purchased a Hopper Flip 8. I work as a firefighter and thought this would be a great addition to my work vehicle. The Hopper Flip 8 is the perfect size for a guy to pack his lunch, drinks, and snacks for the day. I have other Yeti products and believe in the name being synonymous with quality and I don't mind paying for quality - when it's warranted. The first day I used the Hopper Flip 8 and the Thin Ice Pack, my lunch was 'cool' and the ice pack was no longer ice. The next day I used my new cooler, I used a much cheaper ice pack that we've had for years. I'm not sure what brand because honestly, we just picked it up on a weekly supermarket trip. Result? It was still frozen inside my cooler when I got home at the end of my 12 hour shift. Overall, I give the Hopper 5 stars and the Thin Ice Pack 3. For the value, the Thin Ice Pack simply isn't worth the money. ... show more
