This welding & grinding face shield is high quality, well made, easily adjusted for head fit comfort, and comes with extra battery and both lens protection plastic covers. It was packed well and arrived next day. I decided to reuse the heavy plastic bag it came in to keep it dust free while stored on my welding cart. I’m impressed with how well it works. It quickly darkens, and the recovery time for it to go clear again has plenty of adjustment. I’ve got mine set at the fast side, so I can quickly assess the weld I just made. Shade darkness is easily set with your left had, and the knob is on the outside. The viewing area is small compared to the full face or the new panoramic style, but more than adequate. The shade control also can lock the shade to clear for grinding. Very slick, although I probably won’t use it for grinding. I’ve already used it to TIG weld a project I was working on, and did some 308 SS stick welds with it on another project. I was able to go from stick to TIG with a simple twist of the external darkness knob. Before darkening to weld, viewing is clear and natural looking. You can’t beat this welding shield for the price, and it even allows me to use my respirator with plenty of room between it and the face shield. The only complaint I had was the button battery used to power the shade was dead when it arrived. When I hit the shade test button nothing happened. I figured I would have to send the helmet back, but when I took the cover off the battery I found it incorrectly installed. The battery had draining completely do to this mistake, but I already had a spare supplied with my purchase. A quick swap out (with correct insertion), and it worked perfectly;-). ... show more

This welding helmet is very easy to set up and use, even if you’re new to welding. It’s lightweight, comfortable, and provides good visibility while working, which helps reduce fatigue and makes learning easier. One important point for beginners: your eyes are protected at all times. The lens auto-darkens to the selected shade (I use shade 11), but UV and IR protection is built into the lens and is always active—even before the darkening occurs. That adds confidence when getting started. The viewing area is larger than older-style helmets, making it easier to see your work and position the torch or rod before striking an arc. The auto-darkening feature removes the need to flip the helmet down, which is especially helpful when you’re still learning. The grinding mode is a useful addition and allows you to switch tasks without changing face protection. Manual and setup: The included manual is clear and easy to follow. It's lightweight, but gets the job done well. No problems with welding flash, I can see the work. Takes a bit of getting used to, but I can fit my reading glasses inside the helmet at the same time. It's fine for a cheap helmet. The autodarkening works, but I don't believe the 1/30,000s time. It's also no comfortable for me at all. The head band digs into my temples quite badly. Not bad for the price, just not a top tier helmet.
