I picked up the YESWELDER Auto Darkening Welding Helmet and it’s been awesome for my needs. As a DIY welder who doesn’t weld every day, I still wanted the convenience of an auto-darkening lens without spending a fortune, and this helmet delivers. It reacts quickly, the visibility is great, and it’s comfortable to wear for longer projects. The viewing area is large enough to see what you’re doing clearly, and the controls are simple to adjust. I’ve used it on a few small fabrication and repair jobs, and it’s worked flawlessly every time. For someone who welds occasionally but still wants pro-level features, this helmet is a great value. Definitely worth it for any weekend welder or home fabricator.

This welding & grinding face shield is high quality, well made, easily adjusted for head fit comfort, and comes with extra battery and both lens protection plastic covers. It was packed well and arrived next day. I decided to reuse the heavy plastic bag it came in to keep it dust free while stored on my welding cart. I’m impressed with how well it works. It quickly darkens, and the recovery time for it to go clear again has plenty of adjustment. I’ve got mine set at the fast side, so I can quickly assess the weld I just made. Shade darkness is easily set with your left had, and the knob is on the outside. The viewing area is small compared to the full face or the new panoramic style, but more than adequate. The shade control also can lock the shade to clear for grinding. Very slick, although I probably won’t use it for grinding. I’ve already used it to TIG weld a project I was working on, and did some 308 SS stick welds with it on another project. I was able to go from stick to TIG with a simple twist of the external darkness knob. Before darkening to weld, viewing is clear and natural looking. You can’t beat this welding shield for the price, and it even allows me to use my respirator with plenty of room between it and the face shield. The only complaint I had was the button battery used to power the shade was dead when it arrived. When I hit the shade test button nothing happened. I figured I would have to send the helmet back, but when I took the cover off the battery I found it incorrectly installed. The battery had draining completely do to this mistake, but I already had a spare supplied with my purchase. A quick swap out (with correct insertion), and it worked perfectly;-).

I’ve been using this YesWelder hood for a few weeks now and overall, I’m really impressed. The optical clarity is excellent much better than my old hood. The viewing area is large, and the auto-darkening works consistently and quickly. It honestly makes welding feel smoother and less stressful. The headgear is surprisingly comfortable, even for longer sessions. It feels lightweight without feeling flimsy, and I appreciate that the adjustment knobs are easy to dial in. That said, I did knock off one star for the head strap – it tends to slip slightly if I move around a lot, especially when I’m in tighter positions. It’s not a dealbreaker by any means, just something I had to keep re-tightening a bit during the day. All in all, this hood offers great value and performance. If you’re doing DIY projects, hobby welding, or even semi-regular shop work, I’d definitely recommend it.

Cheap but effective welding helmet. I used it in a commercial setting doing MIG spray arc with.045” wire. It handled the arc conditions no problem. The weld was easy to see and the helmet stays on firmly. It’s highly adjustable both in the auto-darkening and the helmet’s ability to stay up when you put it up. You can see to start your weld and the switching to dark is super fast. Mo I doubt it would stand up to daily abuse like a Sellstrom or other high quality helmets, but for the backyard guy? Great choice. It also makes a decent chipping/grinding window for safety. Make sure to stow it in a box or bag so it’s in the dark. The battery lasts longer that way.

So let me begin by saying I've been welding professionally for over 30 years and have had a lot of goods. So when I first got this cheap $35 hood my expectations were very very low. However I was impressed enough that I am writing a review (which I've never done for any product!) I used and abused this hood and found very few flaws. Am I saying this is the best hood on the market? Hell no! What I am saying is that for the money, it gives you all the features a good hood needs, it works great, is light and comfortable, and a great choice for anyone who welds in their garage, or someone getting into a welding career. Or if you got a teenager who's wanting to learn to weld. This is a great hood! Sadly mine gave out on me, but that was more a me thing then the hood itself. In my job, I weld up to 3" thick plate at 400 plus amps, and I've had even high dollar Lincoln's and millers that failed under less torment. So if your looking for a good hood that works great, and can't afford a $500 Lincoln, this is a great choice!
