Even tho I had my measurements and dimensions correct, I appreciate how they wrote me a message on amazon to confirm before sending the unit. As an engineer, I try my best not to measure once and order thereafter! Everything was just perfect the first time. This is actually a very easy unit to build and install, you have to assemble the longer ones as they fold the awning and ship the shaft in multiple sections for these longer units. No matter though, just follow the directions using the screws from their exactly labeled bags (each screw size is properly labeled ON THE BAG - amazing and finally a company that gets it!) Just measure carefully and install per the instructions. I definitely took some artistic license on the mounting of the slideout brackets and shafts which hold the main awning shaft, so as to give the utmost support and strength to the unit. Installed in less than two hours taking my time and no problems or issues at all! Also the stainless steel screws were excellent quality - usually these kinds of things easily chew up with the screwdriver bit. But not the screws in this set, everything worked and no broken or rounded out screw heads. Gotta say exactly as described and would recommend to all my friends and fellow RV users - and I'm saving this in my list for future reference in case I need a replacement or to buy another! ... show more

    • Works as designed and looks great, but mounting screws are cheap and need to be upgraded.

I bought a larger model for a 14' slide-out and the measurements they provide are accurate. The materials used to make it are all lightweight aluminum, so it is easy enough to manage the install as it doesn't weigh that much. First off, the instructions are awful! Watch a quick video online to get a good idea of how it is installed. The materials they use for the screws are cheap, as they are not strong enough to self-drill and pass through the thick aluminum brackets. I swapped them out for #10-2" stainless screws on the mounting brackets and the trailer rail. One of the last steps is to insert the tarp into the already mounted track on the trailer wall and then slide the flexible cord through both the tarp and the rail. THIS IS NOT SA GOOD IDEA FOR LARGER TARPS. Once you get about 10' through, it is very difficult to push the cord through any more, and it ends up bending and getting weaker. Best to put the track on the tarp first and then mount it to trailer wall. Or if you insist on mounting the rail first lubricate the tarp loop with silicone before sliding the cord through which would help it slide through. Everything else was fine; the tarp material is good and feel like it will hold up well. The springs are preloaded and seem to roll up the tarp well when closing the slide-out.     • Great replacement, but a couple of things to keep in mind.

Awning fit well as a replacement for our old awning that broke. It was not too hard to install. 2 points of trouble though to keep in mind. The bracket screw holes did not line up with the old holes, so had to put in new holes and will need to fill the ones that were missed. It is supposed to be an industry standard for those bracket mounts but this was not the same. Other issue some people may have is sliding the cord into the fabric is very hard. The further in the cord goes, the more friction it has with the fabric and the harder it is to slide it in. You will probably need to use a lot of muscle and have patience. Other than that everything else went very smoothly and the awning is in great working order. ... show more
