Purchased 40lb set: 4 x 3lb weights, 4 x 5lb weights, 2 x 2lb bars, 4 x 1lb clamps. These are great weights for women. I am a senior woman, and athletic - but if you don't work out regularly, there are lighter weights available from the same company (like 1.75 & 2.5). But for most women that are reasonably athletic, these are good weight combos to start with. The bar is threaded for screw on type weights, but these do not screw on. The clamps work fine and I've never had a problem with them. If they were the threaded type of weights, just the fact that they have to "unwind" in order to come off, is a bonus, so there's that... but just like old school weights, they're fine as is. I like that they are small. For instance, I have another set, where the 5lb is almost twice the diameter as the 3lb. These are almost the same size, just a little bit wider on the 5lb. I like that they have a powder coated finish, they look really nice. Yes, the handles are like sandpaper, but a person should be wearing gloves when lifting anyway. So I just wear gloves. I really do prefer these weights over my older set that has rubber handles. Where my older set has rusted - inside the house - these have not. I've had these for 4 years now and have never had a problem with them.

This is an excellent high-quality set of dumbbells with a very simple, safe and easy-to-use mechanism for adjusting the weights. The dumbbells are easy to grip and can easily be loaded with a large amount of weight. The cost is reasonable.

So glad to have found a low price for a set of dumbbells like this! I bought the 40 lbs set and so far, it is great. The handles look and feel very sleek, and seem to be high quality. The weights themselves are holding up well, even though I am constantly moving them on and off of a concrete floor. The powder coat on the weights looks great. The locking collars seem to work well. They work best if you entirely unscrew the pin, tighten the collars up as close as possible against the weight, and then tighten the pin. I've had it come undone a couple times, but none while I am actually lifting the weights which is what matters to me. The rubber ring that fits on the inner side against the weights also really seems to help. This is an impressive weight set for the price. I haven't found any weight set nearly as cheap as this with such good reviews.

My quarantine workout was getting a bit stale without the weights I am used to at the gym, so I decided to purchase these to get a more fulfilling workout. I was impressed, and I do recommend them for a budget-conscious workout. What I liked: The price was very reasonable. I purchased the 40 lb set for $69.99, which is notably cheaper than other sets. They are very easy to hold, with more than enough grip space. The collars also screw on and lock down with a set screw, which is a very important safety feature that wasn't present on some other sets of the same price. This prevents the weights from falling off in the middle of an exercise. What I didn't like: I did take 1 star off this review because the finish on the weights and bar wasn't that great. When they arrived, the plates already had chips on the edges. A couple of the collars also arrived with rust on the threads. However, taking the price into account, this didn't affect my experience that much. It certainly doesn't get in the way of the workout; there was no material falling off or anything. To conclude, these weights are more than worth the price. Even though there were some noticeable flaws upon delivery, these are still great and safe weights. If you care about having a shiny, perfect set, pay double elsewhere.

I’ve been working on my legs, glutes and core for awhile now and realized I was neglecting my back and arms. I purchased the 40lb set to remedy this and have no complaints. Super easy to assemble. I was worried about the spinning collars as a previous barbell set I purchased had this same locking mechanism and the collars would constantly slip - I had to tighten them after every set. With these, I’ve used them half a dozen times so far and haven’t had to tighten the collars once. They seem plenty sturdy enough and came very snugly packaged. I imagine sometime this summer I’ll be purchasing the 60 pound set if I decide to keep building my arms and back. They’re pretty versatile, too - my lil sis is just starting out and uses them for goblet and Bulgarian split squats, and lying adductions and clamshells.

These are nice and solid weights. I bought the 40 lb set and they don't come with the little screw on the nuts, but thats fine. They don't need them. They feel tight and will not loosen easily. I had purchased the 50lb CAP select a weight set, but returned them and got these. The select a weights are nice, but after a month of use, one disc fell off. Almost broke my tile floor. That wont happen with these. The bar is a little thicker than 1" its like 1.1" and the diameter of the plates are 1.12". Wanted to share that info just in case you are considering buying more plates. I will probably buy the 60lb set next to have a variety of plates that I know will fit.

First, these came better packed than a lot of expensive stuff I have bought, way better. Second, I cannot find anything wrong with these. The plates are well cast solid iron with a tough flat black paint, not so thick that when banged together they will chip. The threads are well cut square threads, which are strong, and you even get rubber washers to keep the plates from clanging, provided that the collars are twisted tight. I have seen the negative comments--ignore them--as in, the knurled handles feel pointed. They are SUPPOSED to be like that. And--there is a small rough spot. These are cast iron, that is the way they come out of the mold once in a while. Also, if the rubber washers give out, get a thin sheet of like material from your freindly hardware store and MAKE some more. Last, if you do find a sharp edge somewhere, put a file on it. These are a great little inexpensive set. Update- I just received the 50# set today-and while I still think these are a good set for the money, I can see a difference in the heavier set, paint is falling off of the 7.5# plates, but so what, I can fix that. I can understand others pointing these faults out,thogh. The good news-you won't break the bank with these.

I had an old dumbbell set that I got rid of a number of years ago but recently decided I should have a set around to help me keep in shape. These are much nicer than the old ones. With the old set I needed tools to add or remove weights and they always fit loosely. With this set, no tools required. The weights fit snugly and, visually, they just look nice. I'm not trying to look like a weight lifter - I just want to be more physically fit - and I think this set is perfect for my needs.
