I am unsure about Isaac's review stating that the plates are crudely formed. Previous to these, I owned a pair of Rep Fitness'. These are almost identical to those, except for the name imprint. I don't see them as "crudely formed" as normally formed. The Rep Fitness ones were 200 a pair as opposed to these currently offered at 129.99 ( I got them for 89.99). One exception is that this pair collars are far superior in holding power to the Reps. The Reps used to loosen all the time which was highly annoying and very hazardous. So far this isn't a concern with these. Addendum: I should have written the review AFTER I used them. Holy Cow, the knurling on these are aggressive. So much so that it put small holes in my hands after using them without gloves and it did hurt. I am used to wearing gloves when I work out, and it will be mandatory when using these. It doesn't change my rating, just beware, if your hands are strong but soft, like mine. ... show more

Overall, I like the fact that it can function as a barbell and dumbbells. The packaging was horrendous but it doesn’t matter too much since it’s just weights. Everything about this set looks like the same dumbells I purchased a year ago. I wanted more plates so I just purchased another set. The stated dimensions are the same. The plates and nuts aren't interchangeable. They seem to be built to different tolerance. Just about 1mm difference. Enough that the plates holes are too small for the old bar. So close. Some modeling around of plates and mixed use of old and new bar accomplished the goal of putting more that 50lbs on a bar. Just be aware. ... show more
