Here’s the lowdown, no buzzwords, just real-world thoughts. Everyday Feel and Reliability: Right off the bat, this lens stands out for being light and easy to pack. I’ve carried it for full days without that “why did I bring this?” feeling that sometimes comes with heavier glass. The weather sealing is legit—I’ve been caught in surprise rain and didn’t worry about the lens. The whole thing feels solid and balanced, like a tool that’s ready for whatever comes up. Out in the Field: That 14mm focal length changes the game for squeezing big scenes into tight spaces. I’ve managed to get entire buildings from spots where my old lens would’ve given up, and sunrise landscapes suddenly have foregrounds that actually look interesting, not just vast empty stretches. There’s a bit of distortion and vignetting when you go wide, especially throwing RAW files straight onto your computer, but in-camera JPEGs handle things nicely. And if you like to edit, it’s not hard to fix in Lightroom or whatever software you use. Image quality is sharp all over. Great wide angle lens that exemplifies Canons’ ability to craft high quality lenses. While I often wish for wider aperture than f/4.0, this lens is still my fav on the R6 it was my first R series lens purchased after acquiring the R6 - previously I was using L series lenses with the adapter, and they work well, but I needed to replace my ten years old Tokina 11-16 wide lens, and this 14-35 was for me a great choice. Great depth of field and low chromatic aberrations or edge distortions allow for lots of creative uses. Highly recommend this lens. ... show more

I use this with my new mirrorless camera, and it does a great job. Being a wide-angle lens, it does distort the image which if it is very obvious, I have to correct with an app on my computer. That is normal for this kind of lens and is more FYI vs something wrong with this lens. I recommend it!

Great price for such an incredible lens, basically a macro lens but isn’t. Auto focus is incredibly fast which is what I was hoping for and I love the control ring which allows me to change whatever I need whether it’s ISO, Aperture, or even Shutter speed with ease

I bought this lens because of the 77mm front filter thread and close focus specification...the lens does focus close, but it really isn't acceptably sharp to me until the camera-subject distance is increased. At 14mm there is great disparity between what you see in the viewfinder (the .jpg's are beautiful), and what the raw image looks like. I would expect distortion from a 14mm rectilinear full frame lens, but with this lens, applying software lens correction to raw files is a MUST at the wide end, to fix distortion and remove extreme corner vignetting. The severeness of this is reduced by 16-18mm. To me, the lens doesn't feel as sharp as it could be at any focal length, but it's really only noticeable when pixel peeping...that surprised me as most other RF lenses are reported to be very sharp. Construction seems solid, IS and AF are fantastic on my R6 body. Overall. I have no complaints, but think this is a good, slightly quirky lens that would be a great lens at half the price. ... show more
