  • Still THE BEST. Still THE BEST.
Style: Wireless Size: THR30 Color: Black
After an extensive search for the perfect compact home amplifier, I've finally found it in the Yamaha THR30II. I've been using a Fender Champ 25 SE but wanted something smaller. As a jazz guitarist who has experimented with numerous amps... Henriksen, Milkman, ZT, DV Mark, vintage Polytone, Vox Clubman 60, Positive Grid Spark... I can confidently say the THR30II stands out from the crowd. I initially dismissed the THR30II, assuming it would produce a thin, insubstantial sound unworthy of a "real" amp. However, my preconceptions were completely shattered upon trying it. 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 The THR30II delivers an impressive audio experience with rich, room-filling sound. It produces warm, clear, clean tones for jazz, and surprisingly robust bass response. The "Classic" amp settings to my ear are the best and legit give tube-amp tones that I found particularly appealing. One of the amp's standout features is its ability to dial in precise tones. It's highly responsive to adjustments, making it easy to achieve pretty much any tone. The built-in compression is effective, and I've found my sweet spot with a modified Classic > Bass amp preset, tweaking the EQ to my liking (rolling back the bass a bit, turning down the treble, and upping the mids + some compression). 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿-𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 The THR30II has intuitive controls for quick tone adjustments. Its companion app, contrary to some negative reviews, has worked flawlessly for me and unlocks additional potential in the amp. The combination of hardware controls and software options strikes a nice balance, allowing for deep customization without overwhelming the user. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝟰𝟬 While the Spark 40 is a capable and feature-rich alternative, the THR30II just plain sounds better. Its sound is more authentic, better representing the guitar's natural tone. It strikes a balance between versatility and simplicity. It offers enough options to dial in your desired tone without overwhelming you with choices. This approach encourages spending more time actually playing and less time tweaking settings or scrolling through endless presets. The THR30II also aligns with my belief that most of a guitarist's tone comes from their fingers. With its plethora of features and endless presets, I feel the Spark masks your instrument's character, while the THR30II amplifies your guitar without getting in the way of your playing. It doesn't feel like a mask or a crutch but rather an extension of your instrument. This philosophy extends to my thoughts on the upcoming Spark 2. While having even MORE features can be exciting, it's crucial to remember that great music has been made on much simpler equipment. The risk of getting lost in a sea of options is real, and it can detract from the essential practice of simply playing and improving your craft. So for those seeking a compact, high-quality amplifier for home use, the Yamaha THR30II is an outstanding choice. I'm so happy with it. It offers an impressive combination of authentic tone, versatility, and user-friendly features that make it perfect for practice, recording, or intimate performances. After trying numerous options, I can finally say my search for the ideal at-home amp is over. ... show more

  • Fanstastic upgrade from THR10
Style: Wireless Size: THR30 Color: Standard
Things I love about this THR model: - Wireless capabilities: Guitar through Line 6 transmitter (sold seperately), footswitch (sold seperately), amp's power source, amp's app mobile editor software - All three THR10II (its predecessor) models combined into 1. This model has more channels and modes than its previous versions. From Jazz and blues tones to Metal! That being said, I doubt they will release a version of THR30II catered specifically for metal or jazz enthusiasts like they did with THR10II models. - Aesthetics. The amp's body is very compact, sturdy, and light so it's very comfortable to carry and use anywhere. The physical look is not much different from THR10II which is not a downside at all. Off-white color and black knobs contrast gives it a vintage rustic feel to it. - I haven't test this with pedals that much yet, but so far it handles overdrive and distortion pretty well. - More importantly, this sounds great overall! You don't need to crank up the amp to the max to achieve the tones you desire. Things I wish this amp had: - Effects loop input/output. Yes this amp is meant for practice but there are practice amps out there in market now that has this feature. - The amp's mobile software editor is disappointing. Compared to THR10II's desktop editor software, THR30II's mobile editor software is much more simplified so it's not as tweakable as the former editor. ... show more

  • The Best Amp I own
Style: Wireless Size: THR30 Color: Standard
This is the best amp I have owned. It sounds glorious and looks beautiful. I don't use the app much but it allows a lot of tone tweaking. Downloading a large number of tones is a big plus. I have an old VOX DA5 which has no app and sounds anemic in large spaces but sounds very good in small spaces. I also have a Spark 2 which is very good and has many decent tones, especially with AI engine, but doesn't come even close to THR30ii. While this one is almost twice the price of Spark 2, I would recommend it over spark 2 any day. What THR cannot easily do that Spark 2 can is to create tones by just telling it - "give me a Ken Burrell tone from Midnight blue" gives something that is close enough. And despite not having an AI capability like Spark 2 has, I prefer this amp for its tone and sound. The feature I have used is to download tones (I think there are 40 or so tones) and save them on the amp. Those tones are all better sounding than Spark 2 tones. Also, the bluetooth audio capability in this is far superior to Spark 2 which sometimes distorts sound. I suspect that as I use Spark 2 in a big city where airwaves might be saturated with wifi and bluetooth signals I have experienced some connection issues on Spark 2. I use THR30ii in a place where there is zero bluetooth and wifi density and that is why I have never experienced any connection problems. Overall, I would highly recommend this amp. ... show more

  • Lots of features for this beginner guitarist - wireless ready, effects, bluetooth, and tuner!
Style: Wireless Size: THR30 Color: White
I'm learning how to play the guitar, so I didn't need anything super powerful, but this delivered anyway! More loud that I'll ever need practicing at home. Also, I paired this with a Relay G10TII so that I could use my guitar wirelessly. It also charges it as well. One thing to note though, I've been told not to keep the Relay plugged into the amp charging all the time, as it will greatly reduce the battery life. My relay failed pretty quickly and I had to get a warranty replacement. That's not fault of the amp itself though. Also, it has a lot of cool effects you can create and save to presets, or download some from the internet and save. You'll need to download the app for that and sync the saved presets to the amp. I also love that I can pair another device via Bluetooth, so if I want to play a backing track from my iPad, I can, and adjust the volume of that device independently from the guitar, which I play over the backing track. Lastly, there is a very convenient built in tuner as well. ... show more

  • A daily driver, for me... A daily driver, for me...
Style: Wireless Size: THR30 Color: Standard
Yamaha THR30! I upgraded to the THR30 III (from the previous model THR10x high gain version, that I used almost daily for over 8yrs) mainly because of the built in wireless capability. But this amp is heads and shoulders above every other competitive solution in this same market space. Here is what differentiates this one from the competitors in this space, as the tone with the others is good as well but… with the Yamaha, the tone is fantastic because they’ve done component level modeling to build out their amps, which means you get incredibly accurate modeling. The effects just sweeten the tone that much more. The cabinet models are also very good and broaden the tone options. Then, when you add the wireless capability for both streaming via Bluetooth and then using the Line 6 G10t for wireless guitar with it, just leaves all the others in the dust! The new app! The Yamaha app looks just like the knobs on the top of the amp for the interface. It allows you to adjust it in real time to tweak, then if you want to save it - you can save it to one of the three banks of five patches. Very simple and straightforward to use. Bluetooth! This allows you to stream from your mobile device for either playing along, or just streaming music in stereo. This works amazingly well so you can adjust the volume’s and sound like you’re part of the mix. Wireless guitar! I also bought the Line 6 G10t (optional $99) I can leave the transmitter plugged in to the quarter inch jack as it charges the transmitter while it’s plugged in so it’s always ready to go, and gives me eight hours of playtime. Rechargeable, built in batteries! I can just pick up my guitar, the amp and walk out onto my deck - stream music from my iPad and start jamming. Bass or guitar! I use it for both bass and for guitar and the bass modeling sounds amazing. The bass models sound particularly well, over the previous version of the THR (no bass specific modeling on the old version as it was for guitar). These models are super well-balanced and have a deep rich bass tone. I have saved patches for both bass guitar and for regular six string guitar that I use frequently, actually daily. Recording interface via USB! Okay here’s where this device really shines… I plug this directly in via USB to my iPad Pro 11 inch and record directly into garage band. This is absolutely the easiest USB guitar interface that I’ve ever used. I do have a line 6 sonic port and an IK iRig pro I/O as well but I’ve always found both of them to be a hassle to get them working with my iPad consistently every time. When inspiration hits, I always ended up screwing around with the technology versus using the tools before I can actually record with those other interfaces. With the Yamaha, when inspiration hits, I just plug in the wireless and then USB to the iPad and start recording! The incoming tone from the Yamaha sounds amazing! I use this as a writing tool to capture scratch track ideas quickly into Garage Band and then share the GB project with other musicians so they can record directly into their iPads to add to the song. The Yamaha makes this process easy, effortless, consistent to use every time. 1/4” output on the back! it also has quarter inch outputs on the back for left and right channels if you want to record directly into your mixing board or other analog interface. I use this amp daily for practice and for writing recording, it is second to none and a crucial part of my gear. ... show more

Great amp! This is my first amp and i m totally in love with it. the volume level is accurate for home and it has lots of effects to play with. Also it’s wireless, and the greatest thing it s that it has blueetooth so i can play a tune with my phone and play along with my guitar.

  • Great little amp!! Great little amp!!
Style: Wireless Size: THR30 Color: Standard
What a great practice amp! Having the ability to have it charged and taken anywhere makes it so easy and I am more likely to pickup my guitar and play because of it. It is very compact but has huge sound and its effects are almost endless. The app makes it super easy to adjust the effects on the fly. This is intended to be a practice amp and something to use around the house. That said, it has the power to do more if you set your expectations properly. Very happy!! ... show more
