  • Great for the money
Style: P45 Color: Black Set: Digital Piano
I have a baby grand that I normally use. I bought this so that I could practice in my office at night. I am a late-blooming piano student, so I don't need something that is fantastic. The sound on this P-45 is very good (no, not as good as my acoustic piano) and the keyboard feels pretty good. My piano teacher recommended this over the P-71, which sells on Amazon for the same price. I think the main difference between the two is that the P-45 has gradually weighted keys while the P-71 has weighted keys, so that the feel on the P-45 should be more like an acoustic piano. The P-71 may have some other features that were not as important for me. If you're going between an acoustic piano and an electric piano, this may be a better choice. I'm very happy with it. For the money, this is a very good electric piano, and one that is excellent for practicing or for just fooling around. It comes with a sustain pedal (not clear from the description, but mine came with a sustain pedal). I also bought the Liquid Stands piano stand and stool from Amazon, shown in this photo, which I also like. ... show more

This was a gift for my teenager- he love it. Sounds is great, no issues. We did buy a stool to go with everything.

  • Worth the Money Except For Beginners
Style: P45 Color: Black Set: Digital Piano
The sound is very good - almost like a real piano and I like the sustaining pedal feature although it tends to move under my foot. I wouldn't recommend spending this amount of money for a beginner because one doesn't know if the beginner will stick with learning the piano. But, for someone who shows the interest, yes, it's worth the money for the sound and the fact that it has all 88 keys. ... show more

  • Yamaha never lets me down
Style: P45 Color: Black Set: Digital Piano
The piano is portable and fits perfectly in my small bedroom. I played on a grand piano as a kid, and I'm very used to how it feels to play on a grand piano. I've tried many other cheap ($70) keyboards from Amazon, but they are mostly for kids or have too many buttons to play with. I'm looking for high quality sound, weighted keyboards, and simple functions (just buttons for the sound volume and minimal special sound effects), and this piano is everything i'm looking for! ... show more

  • Truly amazing!
Style: P45 Color: Black Set: Digital Piano
I was a little disappointed to see the packaging was somewhat damaged when it arrived. Nevertheless, the keyboard emerged unscathed. After a few minutes of looking over the setup instructions, I had the keyboard on the stand, powered and ready to go. My first reaction was the piano sound. If you closed your eyes, you'd have no idea that you weren't playing a reasonably high quailty upright piano. Some people have said the sound is a little muffled, I would say it sounds like a typical piano backed up against a wall with a bunch of sheet music draped across the front. I have zero complaints about the sound. The action of the keys is heavy, perhaps very slightly stiffer than an older "broken in" acoustic piano. If you close your eyes you won't necessarily think the action feels exactly like an acoustic piano, but it is a nevertheless very acceptable and pleasing action. The sum total of this instrument, and I do believe it is an instrument, is phenomenal for the price. You won't be disappointed in the sound or the keyboard action. You'll be wondering how they pulled this off quality instrument at this price point. Truly amazing! I tried the other sounds. The two piano sounds are great. The only other memorable sound for me is a pretty convincing organ (there are two). Haven't tried the metronome yet. This is a great instrument if you're buying a digital piano to learn how to play, or if you just want something that is really close to an acoustic piano with the weight, bulk, cost, tuning problems, etc. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Decent Piano on a Budget
Style: P45 Color: Black Set: Digital Piano
This piano feels pretty darn close to a real acoustic piano. The keys are fully weighted and the sound is decent. With regard to durability: I have owned this piano now for four years. It still works. But it is not the same as when it was new. After about a year, no noticeable changes. After two years, still going strong. Three years, no problem. At about the four-year mark, the action does noticeably degrade. The keys feel mushier than a year ago and not as crisp. This in and of itself is nothing to complain about on a keyboard with weighted keys. All keyboards with weighted keys will eventually degrade over time and at ~$500 it is not held to the highest of standards. That said, the keys develop a "clicking" sound over four years' time, which is much more annoying than mere mushiness. The "clicking" sound comes from the mechanical action of the key (it does not come from the speaker). The "clicking" sound is very soft and not an issue if you use headphones exclusively. Over-the-ear headphones will block the "clicking" sound. If you do not use headphones, however, the click is loud enough to disturb your internal rhythm and is very, very annoying. I still give the keyboard 4 stars, because I think for the money, it's a good value proposition. Yamaha generally makes good, decent products. Take it or leave it. If you're looking for a decent sounding, decent feeling keyboard to tide you over for a few years, this keyboard is perfectly acceptable. If you're looking for something that will last a decade, you should probably be looking at more expensive equipment. ... show more

  • Perfect Practice Piano
Style: P45 Color: Black Set: Digital Piano
I recently parted with my lovely, but large piano that our family played for many years, but still wanted a practice piano that could fit into our space better. My piano technician recommended Yamaha or Roland as good quality picks. I went with this Yamaha P 45 with a z stand and bench. Really love the quality, weighted keys, sound and even has a few special effects that are fun, but weren’t critical for my purposes. I also added a sustain pedal. It is the perfect set up for me going from a traditional piano. I like that it has a music stand and I added a dust cover. Love it and think it would be ideal for most families. You can also use headsets if you are in a setting such as school, apartment or with roommates. Some of the pricier options with many extra sound effects, etc. are probably overkill for the typical person learning or enjoying music. ... show more
