Description

As an electric guitarist in the '80s, if you wanted to play acoustic on stage there were few options available. In 1987, Yamaha made the first acoustic guitar that could be taken from a guitar rack, plugged in and played at volume, problem free; no more howling feedback, misplaced mics or dreaded extended sound checks. The latest APX600 features a unique under-saddle piezo pickup, the Yamaha proprietary SRT transducer featured in the highly-acclaimed a series range, a natural tone and the feedback rejection and mix-friendly sound guitarists crave. Although its style has evolved, the essence of the APX remains the same. Today, it boasts a more natural look, a deeper body for better bass response and greater volume, and a new non-scalloped bracing pattern for a responsive, dynamic tone.

  • Packed well and came quick
Came quick and is very nice. I was skeptical about ordering but it was as expected! Already strung so all I had to do was tune. I usually use a different brand of strings but they sound nice. I will switch when they wear out still but I didn’t think to order so the convenience was very nice!

  • Perfect
The guitar is perfect. It came with strings already installed. It sounds perfect. The tuner works great, the plug in sounds great with no issues. The body and color looks beautifully fantastic with no damage. The thin body is so nice, and it’s very comfortable to hold. No complaints! Can’t beat such an affordable price for such a great acoustic guitar. Yamaha killed it with this thing. Gonna be playin this till I die ... show more

  • Delivered without a scratch
I was concerned about purchasing a guitar online. I’m usually a Guitar Center guy. I went ahead and took the chance. Guitar arrived in immaculate shape. Tuned and played right out of the box and this thing sounds amazing both through amp, and acoustic! Couldn’t be happier for a solid name-brand guitar at a low cost!! ... show more

  • Going to storm the stage
“I would like to start by saying that I am a beginner and have no prior experience playing the guitar. However, I believe that the Yamaha APX 600 is a great guitar for beginners. It has a rich tone and beautiful quality, making it a great value for the price. I was looking for a guitar that was made with quality in mind but at a reasonable price, and the Yamaha APX 600 fit all of those needs. I am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great guitar to learn on.” ... show more

  • The perfect guitar!
I didn’t have high hopes when I ordered this guitar, but when I took it to my local music store, it required no set up at all. The only thing that they needed to do was oil the fretboard. I bought black diamond, silk, and steel strings and had my store put them on. Period now this is the best guitar I’ve ever owned. I play it every day, and I recommend it highly to beginners all the way through advanced and intermediate. It’s on the smaller side, but plays like a dread knot. I’m so glad I found this. I hope you enjoy it as well. ... show more

  • Love this guitar
As a beginner learning guitar it’s simple and I love it the quality is good. as a person who plays me in instruments, a.k.a. trumpet and guitar I always trust the Yamaha. They’re one of the best instrument makers and the business

  • Concerned about condition
I bought this guitar because I wanted an acoustic that had am electric feel, the thin line feels very similar to an electric which makes it comfortable vs the dreadnoughts thick body. This guitar looks beautiful and has a richer tone than I was expecting (tested before plugging into am amp) which was a pleasant surprise and it's definitely worth the cost for a good beginner's guitar. I would've given 5 stars however when it got to me it had started to separate and bow on the back near the Jack so I am returning it and getting a replacement. I will do a follow up review once I get the replacement and had a little time to play on it. ... show more

  • Great guitar for the money.
I purchased this Yamaha guitar for several different reasons. First of all I wanted an acoustic electric guitar, I wanted a slimmer body, I wanted a more narrow fret board for my smaller fingers. I wanted a guitar made with quality in mind but at a reasonable price. So the Yamaha APX 500 seemed to fit all of those needs. As soon as I received it I took it to my local music store and had new lightweight strings installed as well as a professional setup. This cost about $40.00., but it made all the difference in the world as to how easy it is to play and how good it sounds. I really love this guitar, but warning, if you have big fat fingers this is not the guitar for you! The strings are very close together especially the first three. The built in tuner works great but the preamp isn't the best. Connected to a good amp it sounds terrific! This guitar would be fantastic for anyone with smaller hands and slimmer fingers. It was worth every penny that I paid for it. I hope this helps in your selection process. ... show more
