Description

As an electric guitarist in the '80s, if you wanted to play acoustic on stage there were few options available. In 1987, Yamaha made the first acoustic guitar that could be taken from a guitar rack, plugged in and played at volume, problem free; no more howling feedback, misplaced mics or dreaded extended sound checks. The latest APX600 features a unique under-saddle piezo pickup, the Yamaha proprietary SRT transducer featured in the highly-acclaimed a series range, a natural tone and the feedback rejection and mix-friendly sound guitarists crave. Although its style has evolved, the essence of the APX remains the same. Today, it boasts a more natural look, a deeper body for better bass response and greater volume, and a new non-scalloped bracing pattern for a responsive, dynamic tone.

  • Perfect
The guitar is perfect. It came with strings already installed. It sounds perfect. The tuner works great, the plug in sounds great with no issues. The body and color looks beautifully fantastic with no damage. The thin body is so nice, and it’s very comfortable to hold. No complaints! Can’t beat such an affordable price for such a great acoustic guitar. Yamaha killed it with this thing. Gonna be playin this till I die ... show more

  • Great guitar for the money
Really decent guitar, especially for the money. Actually sounds mediocre live, but plugged in it sounds terrific. Makes a great economical backup, or a really good-sounding main guitar if you're short on cash.

  • Delivered without a scratch
I was concerned about purchasing a guitar online. I’m usually a Guitar Center guy. I went ahead and took the chance. Guitar arrived in immaculate shape. Tuned and played right out of the box and this thing sounds amazing both through amp, and acoustic! Couldn’t be happier for a solid name-brand guitar at a low cost!! ... show more

  • Top Quality!
First of all I have no ties to Amazon nor Yamaha and I am writing this review to hopefully be invited to Vine!! Please! Now for the review. This is my first purchase of a music instrument. I never thought it would be done through Amazon but Amazon has always been there for my needs and problems! This electric acoustic guitar is top notch!! I wish I bought it years ago but never had enough money to justify it. I still don’t, haha. I am a total noobie so please don’t just take my word but if you have a chance to see I. A retail store, check it out! This is a beautiful guitar and from what I have seen is built to last me for several years or possibly decades! It’s built that well! I tuned it (my first time) in 15 min with a separate tuner! If I had to say anything negative it would be the built in tuner . Now I admit I am new to playing so I felt the built in tuner is difficult to use and it’s so much easier with a visual color lit tuner! They are cheap! Like I said earlier this guitar is beautiful and I have absolutely no regrets buying it! There are cheaper ones available but I am overly impressed with the build quality of this Yamaha!! Don’t trust me! But you really should purchase this and if you do not agree with my review , take advantage of Amazon refund!! But I am confident you will, like me, fall in love with this well made beautiful guitar!!! ... show more

  • Going to storm the stage
“I would like to start by saying that I am a beginner and have no prior experience playing the guitar. However, I believe that the Yamaha APX 600 is a great guitar for beginners. It has a rich tone and beautiful quality, making it a great value for the price. I was looking for a guitar that was made with quality in mind but at a reasonable price, and the Yamaha APX 600 fit all of those needs. I am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great guitar to learn on.” ... show more

  • Disappointed
I owned the previous 500 series and even recommended and sold that guitar several times to others. However, seems quality control on these have went down from Yamaha. Just got one of these yesterday and there were issues all over it. Nut cut uneven - light scratches here and there. Worse was the neck hump and weird finish flaws around and past the 12 fret on bass side. No way I can keep this guitar. I have seen this same guitar hanging in some stores with similar issues. Disappointed. ... show more

  • Excellent workmanship for the price
This is a very nice guitar for the price. The electronic tuner works well although the guitar stays in tune for most of the time. Fret work was very nice no burrs or sharp edges. The action appears to be at the standard height. If you are looking for a steel string guitar that is light and easy to travel this works well. Some things to consider, depending on one’s technique, the action could be lowered. I had to get my left hand finger right behind the frets to get a clear tone. So if your are more use to a nylon string guitar or electric guitar play you would have to be sure to get right up to the fret wire. One small issue is finding a well fitting gig bag. I could not find one on Amazon. ... show more

  • Acoustic guitar for a replacement for a working musician
I Half guild guitar from my band that’s vintage, but it has a lot of issues with the internation and the tuning is not right and I just didn’t have the patience or the money to get it worked on. Something for the future. I needed a good working guitar that’s practical and you could not find a better one. It looks great plays nice easily. The internation is perfect. It’s light. I could not be more happier with it. ... show more
