My son got this as a gift, it’s been working for over a month. At one point it dropped and the spinning thingy had to be re-centered. I’m assuming it’s a magnetic. I will say it’s loud. Bought for my son for a nightlight. First one would not do the tornado so replaced it. Second one did the tornado, but quit working just over 2 weeks in. Very disappointing to have something so cool keep breaking & upsetting my kids!!
