First off this is a gorgeous firepit. The unique shape and screen top is perfect for a smaller space or smaller group. Even when not in use it is very pleasant to see in the back yard. I had never had a firepit and had to look up all the details on how to safely use it. Here goes: please follow all the fire codes in your area for proper placement. Catching your house on fire would completely ruin an otherwise great evening. Get a good brand name fire mat to protect your deck or yard. After pouring over dismal reviews I went to our local hardware store and picked one up. It wasn't cheap. It is a woven material designed to catch sparks and cinders. It is not a vinyl mat and has no favorite team name on. It is very utilitarian and functional. Pick this out with care. It will protect your expensive deck. Lava rocks. Who knew? I purchased about 20 pounds of small to medium lava rock which created about a two inch deep barrier between the bowl and the fire. The rock protects the firepit and helps disperse the heat. Apparently they will explode if you get the hot rocks wet so do not put your fire out with water. I did not test this information and I would recommend no one else does. Can we say party over? We let our small fire burn itself out. Get a cover for protecting your firepit from the elements unless you can store it. Why get your lava rocks all soggy and messy when an inexpensive cover will make your life so much easier? Amazon has dozens of round covers from which to choose, so make it happen. We love our firepit. We have figured out how much wood to put in for the amount of time we want it to burn. No issues. No rust. You do have to remove the screen for toasting marshmallows or whatever. The pedestal base does not get hot to the touch. This is a great piece at a good price point. I am a novice user so if an expert has additional tips, they would be welcomed! ... show more

Exactly as advertised. Easy to put together but I used washers on the inside for the screw heads because the hole is a little large and didn't want to to pull through while tightening.     • Easy to assemble only takes about 30min to put together!
I like the overall quality of the grill pit but it is a little tougher to clean out the ashes! It needs a better way to empty the fire pit would be nice if it had a accessable lower slidable plate that could be rotated for easy emptying out ashes quicker!

I bought this firepit for my 86 year-old father who's excited to be outside on his refurbished patio. I considered a variety of firepits, including the Solo Stove, but I couldn't justify paying the (significantly) higher price for a product that produces similar heat. I'm so glad that I didn't because this firepit is elegant and it's the perfect size for a smaller space. The assembly was a teeny bit tedious, but really, not a big deal. Simply be prepared to spend a little more time on assembly than expected. Love love love it! At the same time, I bought the ROUNDFIRE Concrete Tabletop Fire Pit 2 Pack (Ethanol Fire Pit, Fire Bowl, Mini Personal Fireplace for Indoor & Garden - Bio Ethanol Fuel) and I can't say enough about the versatility of this tabletop piece.     • Lovely hexagon style
I love this hexagon style fire pit. It is the second one I have purchased. The first one was in bronze, this is in black which matches my wrought iron patio set better. They do burn out after a few years, but I did a lot of heavy burning in mine, much more so than the average backyard as I have acreage and lots of trees so lots of fallen wood to burn. A cover for them like and treating them like patio furniture helps prolong their life so they don't get rained on and rusted out. Easy to assemble, study, good value for the money. Love the style and size for what I was looking for — 8 months in, the cage on the top has rusted after being outside & in the sun (without shade) & the poker recently broke. But overall, it’s a great fire pit for the cost!
