Wetsuit works by trapping a thin layer of water between the neoprene and their skin so they are going to get wet(hence the name, wetsuit). The water between the skin and the wetsuit will form a thermal isolation layer, which will prevent the heat generated from their body spreading out, that keeps them warm.

The back zipper is normally opened wider than front one, thanks to that, donning on and off will be much easier. They can easily put on and take off the wetsuit without the help from yours.
  • Long Lasting Nylon Material: Wetsuit typically has three layers. Neoprene is the thickest and middle layer and the thicker the neoprene, the better the suit is at keeping you warm. The layer closest to them is made of soft nylon to protect their skin against chafing which will happen if a tough material is used. The outermost layer is also made of nylon which will last longer than other materials.

Overall, this is a good product. The wetsuit is made of thick high quality neoprene. It was the first wetsuit we got for our son and I know it's supposed to fit like a second skin, but this was really tight. The neck area run a little too high that makes it a little uncomfortable for him, but was able to get used to it. Aside from getting used to the overall fit, this is a pretty high quality wetsuit that was thick enough to keep him warm and is pretty good water resistant. Pretty wetsuit that will keep my kiddo warm while playing on the beach this summer. We are on the Oregon coast, so the 3mm will likely not be warm enough for being in the cold water, but it's a good level for playing on the beach year round and getting in the water during the warmer months. I ordered her a size 10. She's 52" tall and 63lbs, almost 10 years old. There a bit of room to for her to grow as it's not currently as tight as it should be. But I do think the sizing down would have been too small for her. The print is pretty, the knees and stomach areas are thick and will further protect her. It was easy enough for her to put on without any help (while dry). My 8 year old is wearing the size 8. Based on the measurement chart, he should be wearing the size 6. He is 4'4 (52") and 52 pounds. It is snug on him, the way it is supose to be. The size 8 is a tad short on the arms. He will only be able to use this for a short time. If I knew it was going to fit like this, I would have ordered a size up. The arm area, he said is not comfortable. We haven't tried it in the water yet. ... show more

I bought this for my daughter so we can extend our boating season. This suit appears to be high quality. I have an Xcel chest zip for myself, and I feel like the construction quality is similar between these two. The stitching looks sturdy and very well done. This one is a back zip with velcro to close up around the neck. The extra padding on the knees will help keep it from wearing out from crawling around the boat and swim deck. My daughter is 7, stands about 4'4" and weighs ~60 lbs. I ordered a size 8 hoping to give her a little room to grow into it while fitting well enough to be functional. She was able to get it on easily. It fits snugly through the neck, chest, and upper legs. It's a bit loose around her lower arms and lower legs. I was worried about it being too long since she's a couple inches shorter than size 8 is intended, but it rests at her ankles and wrists. It will probably be too short when she reaches the upper end of the range (4'9"). But I think it will work well for a few more inches and several more pounds of growth. She has complained about it being too snug in the neck after wearing it for awhile, but in my experience that's normal for a good fit. We'll just unzip and unstrap the neck when she's out of the water. This is a great value suit. I plan on picking up one for my 5 year old as well. Maybe an extra adult suit too, though I'd like to see more sizing options to accommodate slim fits. ... show more

I wasn't sure how the sizing worked since my daughter is a 4-5T in clothes. I bought her size 5 clothes where it's fits more like a 5T (usually just a little bigger fit like the neck or waist, but the length is usually good). This however, is just too big, especially around the neck because she's not tall enough for it to fit right. It's a cute wet suit but one she'll have to grow into in a couple of years. ... show more

I got this for my son who is allergic to pool, beach, ocean, lake water! It doesn’t matter if it’s outdoor water he gets hives. So what I’ve learned is not only liquid allergy med before but these wet suits also help!! It doesn’t keep his skin dry or not in contact with the water but it’s an added protection with the medication on board! This wet suit fits him perfectly, is comfortable & easy to get into. He’s able to play in the sand, play in the water & have a great time!! This suit has helped us as we live in San Diego & the beach is right here & we’re there almost every day.
