The low profile is just perfect for the fixtures I needed them for. A 4 light floor lamp & 3 light table lamp where with normal bulbs they are so visible. Tried GE Stick bulbs which were ok but still so visible. These little fellows you cannot see unless you look directly down the opal glass on the fixtures. They are a nice color to with opal glass fittings. In the right light fixture they are just perfect. Recommended ... show more

    • Buffet and Wife's Dresser Lights - better than original

So, we moved and set up my wife's dresser. I guess the jostling caused one of the old incandescent bulbs to break the filament. So, I unscrewed the bulb, and went to the local stores (Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot) and got a small 60 Watt LED bulb. Naturally, they looked odd, as they were much bigger than the MR16 (which I hadn't ever heard of before) - but what's weird and annoying - they FLICKERED even when off. Ever try to sleep in a dark room, with a dresser than randomly flashes lights? It's annoying. So, I looked at Amazon. Now my first thought was "Perhaps there is something weird about the dimmer on this furniture, that is simply not compatible with LED lights?" But, as Amazon is wonderful with returns, and these bulbs looked to be exactly the same as the original - I thought "give it a try". The bulbs are exactly the same size as the original; but they do look cheaper and more "plastic". So, my first opinion was "ugh ... ok ... not impressed but let's try them out". And WOW!! So, much brighter, no flicker, no random flashes at night, great variation in dimness levels, nice white light. Next on the agenda - replace the yet to go out tube style lights on the nightstands, Buffet table, and bottom of the China Hutch. My basic rule of thumb is "Things never fail when it's convenient". And LED lights will likely outlast me - so might as well replace the old bulbs NOW. ... show more
