  • Hand, wrist, and shoulder saver compared to using the manual post driver!
Size: 2-Stroke Engine
This driver was bought to drive 2 3/8" x 8ft posts into the ground to 4 or4 1/4 ft, the kind usually used for chain link corner posts. Worked like a charm. I am extending a fence in my back yard and wanted to drive the galvanized posts rather than dig holes and use the standard 4x4 with concrete posts that were already rotting away in my existing 10 yr old fence. When considering purchasing this unit, I first spent 30 minutes beating the first post into the ground with the typical manual post driver and only got 2 - 2 1/2 feet into the root infested ground. That convinced me to go ahead and order. Once it arrived and I got everything mixed and fueled up, it cranked right up. It took no time at all to drive that first post the rest of the way down to 4 1/4 feet even at the recommended half throttle break in. The other 15 posts went in without a problem in short order. Be mindful though, this thing is heavy to wield atop an 8 ft post to get it started. Its best to have something to stand on or a second set of hands until the post gets down to a manageable level. Also, be on the lookout for hardware that may back out with the vibrations from operating. The allen heads on the aluminum anvil cover were the first thing I noticed backing out. Loctite is your friend. This thing did round over the posts slightly on the very end, depending on what it had to push through. This was expected though and were left long enough to trim off an inch or two with a portaband. The description pics show that it ships with a grease tube but the contents list does not include this. Mine did not have it in the case. There is an oil inspection window in the drive mechanism that does not show indication of any oil. I am curious if this is supposed to show a lubricant or not. Googling this only found another brand inspection cover having a grease in the piston cavity and not oil. Either way, this thing worked great, starts easily, runs well, has a great storage and transport case, and drives posts like a champ! I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is sitting on the proverbial fence. It's not the 2500$ Honda driven Rhino - Cadillac of post drivers but then again its not 2500$. ... show more

  • Sent back. Wasn't for me.
Size: 2-Stroke Engine
Started easy, ran great. If you're going to use it to drive t post DO NOT buy this one. Way to top heavy and you have to hold it under the engine do it's very hard to hold. The tube that holds the t post is way to short and way to big so now you have 50lbs swaying above your head unless you use a ladder. Sent it back without even being able to drive one post. May work great on post other than t post. ... show more

  • Pile driver is great, Case is cheap.
Size: 2-Stroke Engine
The pile driver is amazing! Glad I went with the 55cc unit. Hearing protection is not a suggestion, your ears are literally right next to every impact, I normally don't do hearing protection but will with this. Struggleda little to drive 3.5" wood posts through southern Missouri rock but steel posts like butter. Hinge pins missing and latches fall off. Case is a disappointment, wish they spent and extra $20 on the case and made it as good as the unit! ... show more

  • Very heavy
Size: 2-Stroke Engine
It works well, however, I had to disassemble it after about 30 minutes of use as it stopped pending even though the motor was running. Only to find out the piston. In the pounding unit requires a significant amount of grease to keep it working properly. Problem solved and works great now. This is not a pounder for a smaller person as it is much like lifting a 50 lbs bag of feed over your head again and again. Great workout, if your into that! Once you get it up in the air, stealing it, pulling the trigger all while holding it still in the air, resting on a t-post, is a bit of a balancing game and would go much easier if you had 2 or 3 people to run it, not just one. Does what ots designed to do. I have used a smaller lighter version, however the cost for those is triple this one. ... show more

  • Worked Great for Me.
Size: 2-Stroke Engine
It worked great for me. It's definitely heavy and a bit cumbersome to control, but what else would you expect. It drives posts much easier than by hand. I will say that a couple of times I hit something in the ground like a rock or root that it wouldn't drive through. That's when you need to have a hand driver to force the post past the object. From there you can continue to use the powered driver. A couple of notes on setup and operation: First off, you need to put some gear oil in the reservoir with the sight glass. Secondly, the instructions say to run 20:1 fuel to oil ratio. I didn't bother with that and just ran the same 50:1 mix that I run in every other 2 stroke engine that I have. I drove a lot of post with it and ran about 2 tanks of gas so far with total success. My body thanks me for investing in one of these. ... show more

  • Waste of time and money!
Size: 4-Stroke Engine
Read the manual, followed all recommendations including the pre-use idle instructions. Everything was fine until I attempted to put it to work. The machine lost power on the first post and the piston failed. This actually turned out to be a stroke of fortune for me for the following reasons: The machine is about 60lbs filled with gas. If you are trying to "plant" 6'6" post the controls are around 6'10' above the ground. I'm 6'4" and had to get a step ladder to comfortably reach and hold the machine over the post. The fact that it failed saved me from being stuck with a machine that, if working, is really only good for about 4' posts. I was able to put in 110 post with a manual 18lb post "hammer" in about 7 hours. That's in rock and clay too. This machine did not work and is designed to be used with 4' posts or by a 8' tall person if your using normal 6.5' posts. Save your money, spend your sweat and stick with the manual method. *** The Supplier was excellent to work with. They sent a shipping label and I received a full refund within 7 days. They did not design or make the machine so it wasn't their fault. I would happily do business with them again if I need something they sell.*** ... show more
