  • Great Tool.....Time and back saver
Size: 4-Stroke Engine
This is an incredible tool! So far I've driven 80 line post in a vineyard with no issues in its capabilities. It does require that you make occasional checks on the machines fasteners but that is to be expected from a driver that takes this kind of abuse while doing the intended job. I would also add that based on the nature of the tool the Amazon extended warranty probably isn't a bad idea. ... show more

  • Hand, wrist, and shoulder saver compared to using the manual post driver!
Size: 2-Stroke Engine
This driver was bought to drive 2 3/8" x 8ft posts into the ground to 4 or4 1/4 ft, the kind usually used for chain link corner posts. Worked like a charm. I am extending a fence in my back yard and wanted to drive the galvanized posts rather than dig holes and use the standard 4x4 with concrete posts that were already rotting away in my existing 10 yr old fence. When considering purchasing this unit, I first spent 30 minutes beating the first post into the ground with the typical manual post driver and only got 2 - 2 1/2 feet into the root infested ground. That convinced me to go ahead and order. Once it arrived and I got everything mixed and fueled up, it cranked right up. It took no time at all to drive that first post the rest of the way down to 4 1/4 feet even at the recommended half throttle break in. The other 15 posts went in without a problem in short order. Be mindful though, this thing is heavy to wield atop an 8 ft post to get it started. Its best to have something to stand on or a second set of hands until the post gets down to a manageable level. Also, be on the lookout for hardware that may back out with the vibrations from operating. The allen heads on the aluminum anvil cover were the first thing I noticed backing out. Loctite is your friend. This thing did round over the posts slightly on the very end, depending on what it had to push through. This was expected though and were left long enough to trim off an inch or two with a portaband. The description pics show that it ships with a grease tube but the contents list does not include this. Mine did not have it in the case. There is an oil inspection window in the drive mechanism that does not show indication of any oil. I am curious if this is supposed to show a lubricant or not. Googling this only found another brand inspection cover having a grease in the piston cavity and not oil. Either way, this thing worked great, starts easily, runs well, has a great storage and transport case, and drives posts like a champ! I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is sitting on the proverbial fence. It's not the 2500$ Honda driven Rhino - Cadillac of post drivers but then again its not 2500$. ... show more

  • It IS heavy
Size: 2-Stroke Engine
I purchased this for a job installing around 525 T posts, 30" in the ground. I am glad I had read other reviews stating about needing to add oil to it. I added some oil before I ever turned it on. I was unable to locate anything within the dir3ection stating anything about adding oil, nor what to add. I ended up adding some standard motor oil (could very well be the wrong oil, but I got a low viscosity and it seems to have worked just fine. I read other reviews mentioning the weight, and obviously it has to have some weight to work. I found that it seemed to work better at a lower throttle rate, unless I ran into a rock or something. Providing a higher throttle seemed to help vibrate whatever obstacle was below out of the way. This did not work in every instance, however I cannot blame the machine on that. Driving 125+ posts per day was quite exhausting, but I am not in the best physical shape. the machine obviously vibrates and rattles much. by the end of the second day, it appears the oil I had added had begun to leak out of the front causing me to need to add more. I attempted to tighten the bolt down on the cover, but it was already taught. the bolts that secure the bottom section have a real bad tendency to vibrate loose. If it is mentioned somewhere I did not see it, but there are no torque specs so I didn't want to over torque and strip something out. But overall, this machine performed adequately for the work I needed it for. If it weren't for the other reviewers mentioning the oil, I would very well expect this to fail quite quickly. One other notable mention would be that it only sits around 5" onto the post. I have used the manual post drivers that extend quite a ways. so if you are driving in a 5+' post, it is advisable to have a second set of hands to hold the post, as well as a ladder or something to stand on. ... show more

  • Not as Impressed as I thought
Size: 2-Stroke Engine
Upon receiving the item the first day the press on fitting foot came off. So therefore I could not use a machine.. upon the foot coming off I tried putting it back on and it would not go back on. Not only that the machine clutch had oil on it from the get-go.. so the clutch was slipping the reason why I know this is because you don't put oil on a clutch. Not only that no oil came with the machine not even a little bottle to go with it so you had to get your own oil to go into the compression cylinder. The instructions are not very instructive nowhere near what should be in an instruction manual to use the machine.. so the machine jammed up like it was something to do with the clutch it wouldn't pound like it's supposed to pound note this is the first Pole that I'm trying to put in the ground not 15 minutes not 20 minutes not 30 minutes the first 5 minutes of using the machine that this did this. And there's no returns on this machine. If I could I would send this back and tell him to go sink it in the ocean and use it as an anchor. Because all I have now is something that sits on my table taking up space for $300. I had to completely weld the foot back on to the ram.. and I'm going to put it back together and see what it does.. if it doesn't work after I put this on and maybe change the clutch I won't recommend this. ... show more

  • Amazing
Size: 2-Stroke Engine
I never do product reviews because there are so many that are just Bots or BS but this product made me want to sit down and type one out. It’s worth its cost. I drove 82 8’ tall T-post in hard ground with tree roots in about 4 hours. Now it is pretty heavy but with 2 people it makes easy work. I do wish the collar was deeper for the post to sit in but that’s the only complain. ... show more
