I was concerned when buying this kit due to the negative comments. Especially, the comments where people had problems pulling a 30 HG vacuum, suggesting the pump was not powerful enough. After a bit of research, I decided that the pump should be able to pull the required vacuum, so I gave it a go. When setting up the system, I realized two quality control issues. First, the high-side (red) hose was missing it's rubber insert. I found that out the hard way, by watching the system leak down to zero after pulling a vacuum. Fortunately, the kit came with 3 extra inserts, which fixed that problem. Second, the can-tap fitting has different threads than the yellow hose. You literally cannot connect the hose to the can-tap fitting. That crisis was averted as the kit comes with a few extra fittings that can serve as adapters, but they have Schrader valves in them (I think they are for systems with a different refrigerant type). I removed the Schrader valve from one of them and used it as an adapter -- it worked (I think someone put the wrong can-tap valve in the box). I was able to pull a vacuum without issue. Within 60 seconds, or so, I was at 29 to 30 HG. After letting the system sit, confirming no leaks, I ran the pump for 45 minutes to extract any moisture. The pump did great and held the system at 29-30 HG (for those who want to know, my location was at 750' altitude, 50 degrees F, 51% humidity, and 30.22 HG air pressure). The pump smoked a little at the start, but ran clean after that. I was successful in doing a full recharge. Even though there were quality control issues, I still gave this product 5 stars as the price was fantastic considering the tool's purpose, it was easy to use, and it was able to get the job done. ... show more

This kit works pretty well and seems to be decent quality. I didn't have any seal issues that others have stated, and everything held tight. The pump worked great, but if you forget to remove the exhaust cover it WILL fly off get lost somewhere in the engine bay. Still haven't found it yet. The hoses and manifold all work great, with the exception of the adapter that others have complained about. The adapter you get for the R-134a cans is for an older style can than most of todays cans. It is designed to puncture the top of the can, instead of pressing the thing in the self-sealing cans that most proper R-134a cans now have. It seems some of the off brand "fake" R-134a "Replacements" still have these puncture can and will work, but most R-134a can have the self-sealing tops and will not function properly. You will have to get an adapter to accommodate the self-sealing cans. The included adapter sort of works, but I wonder if it goofed up my fill and I have to re-vacuum and re-fill again. It took over an hour to empty a 12oz can, and it completely destroys the self-sealing mechanism in the cans. ... show more

got this for 3 specific project needs, first, already took care of swapping out a leaking AC compressor in a 1987 300ZX, worked great. 2nd I need to relocate my central AC compressor on my house and add about 20 ft of line set...done. 3rd I ordered a cheap mini split for my workshop to finally have a little ac in there. I am ready to go on that but the unit is lost in shipping, otherwise all 3 would have been done on the first day I owned this pump. I don't think anyone looking at this kit assumes its a high end set a pro would use, but for the youtube club of "I ain't paying "the guy" that much to fix it" I will figure it out... this works, pulls a solid vacuum, gauges and lines didn't leak and the 2 jobs I did today would have ran me over 4k and the mini split install i got a quote of like $700 that we all know would end up around 1k by the time they were done. under 200 for this kit and a few other odds and ends. It works, its cheap and did what i needed 2 times so far without issue. If it gets me through the mini split install it already paid for itself like 40 times over. if it were to self destruct after that I would thank it for its service and be happy we met ... show more

The leak detector is next to worthless, which was a big reason for me purchasing this set. But pump seemed to run just fine (I didn’t use micron gauge) and they provide the oil. Quality of Gauges and pump are about what you would expect for the price, but they seem reliable so far. Leak detector might as well not be in this set, though. I got what I expected, and didn’t break after one use 👍 ... show more
