I have had several digital calipers but I especially like this one because of its on/off feature. If it is not moved for several minutes it automatically shuts off. This is not unusual but when one picks it up and moves the slider it automatically turns on and does not loose its zero setting. So one can just lay it down and pick it up and never have to mess with turning it on or off. As for accuracy, I have not tested it but I have no reason to doubt its accuracy is as most digital calipers, i.e. +/- .001 inch or +/- .003 mm as advertised.

I bought this digital caliper to replace one that I l already have because to remove the other battery on the other one requires the use of of a tiny screw driver to remove a tiny screw to remove the battery cover each time. I thought having this caliper with a slide off cover would solve the battery take out issue. Unfortunately, after sliding off the cover, the battery is pretty much wedged in. I don't to shake the caliper in order to try and loosen the battery. Also, there's no room to just remove the battery with a finger. Instead, an easy way to remove the battery is to use a tiny jewelry type flathead screwdriver. Unfortunately, having to use a tiny flathead screwdriver sort of defeats the purpose of having the easy slip off cover. As the for the rest of the digital caliper, it is fine. It is made mostly of steel. The caliper does have plastic as the housing. It does the regular type of measurements calipers do. It is a 6 inch or 150 mm caliper. Switching to either unit is just a button press as well as buttons for on/off and "zero" out. The housing slides well back and forth. Digital calipers take a drain on batteries. So, in order to not have them run down prematurely one thing to do is to remove the battery before putting away for a while. Unfortunately, it seems the developers of these calipers don't take this into consideration with difficult to remove battery designs. Here is what I like and dislike of this digital caliper: Likes: ------ - accurate - normal caliper functions -easy to read display -housing smoothly slides one steel ruler -CR2032 size battery better than LR44 battery size -slide off cover better than tiny screws Dislikes --------- - battery not easy to remove despite cover sliding off If the battery easily came off, I'd give this five stars. But since doesn't I dropped this digital caliper to 3 stars since who wants to have to fiddle around with a small screwdriver to often take out the battery? My wish is that a developer of these digital calipers think outside the box and be daring enough to make a caliper that runs on an AA or AAA sized battery. I bet having a digital caliper that runs on an AAA or AA sized battery would be a big seller.
