The machine was quite straight forward to assemble. I had it up and running in a few hours. My only problem is the shadow lines that appear to radiate from the letters. I’ve had this machine for 2 weeks, I can’t make any progress with customer service. I think I’ll be returning it! Update, customer service is awkward, but they will work with you, patience required. They replaced my machine, problems haven’t completely disappeared, but it does what it’s supposed to do. I’ll upgrade the program and keep my fingers crossed. ... show more

    • Very nice engraver with inadequate customer support
The engraver worked extremely well for 5 days. The next day, it quit. I tried to contact customer service at xtool. After several emails over 2 days, they responded and wanted more info including pics and video. I sent what they wanted - twice over 2 more days - and then they mentioned sending me a part but wanted more info. I replied - twice - and asked for shipment details. 3 days later, not hearing anything, I contacted Amazon to return it. Even if they were able to fix it this time, future problems wouldn't be handled any better, and the aggravation isn't worth it. Down for 7 days and counting, with no end in sight. Too bad - very nice engraver when it works. Update: I was contacted by the seller. My previous contacts were with xTool's customer support - it would have been better to simply contact the seller as they seem to be better equipped to handle communication with customers. They offered me a small amount of compensation for my time, which I declined - although I did appreciate the offer. I told them I am re-evaluating my decision based on their outreach and I might purchase the machine again now that I feel more comfortable with the possibility of support. Easy to set up for beginner, basic software with not a lot of information to try to learn for the beginner. I just wish I waited a couple of days cause the came out with a better one the D1 Pro D1 20w laser. The 5w is a GREAT starter tool to get your feet wet and cheap enough to use for awhile before going up in power. After about a week use use you'll want the more power though! This starter kit a a nice assortment of things to practice on before working on the bigger things. ... show more

I hate the fact as I was grabbing this off the porch after delivery it went on sale 100 cheaper. I already used it tho and it’s what I thought would be. Great engraving. Can’t wait to try more

Purchased this to engrave some yetis for my groomsmen and they turned out awesome! Take some time to get used to but here’s some tips: Always make sure roller is squared to the engraver Frame it several times Place something heave near the bottom of the cup so it doesn’t shift down off the roller Rotate image to the right 90 degrees to be correct on the cup For 30 oz yetis the settings are: coated metal, 100% power, 40 mm/sec, 1 pass, 80x89mm size image Use isopropyl alcohol and magic eraser to remove soot (I prefer to move the starting point to the center, and due to this and the image size, my laser guard should be about 1-1.5 cm away from the stainless steel at the top of the yeti when framing and starting the laser) ... show more
