I had the xTool D1 and sold it on eBay and got this one and the UV light is such a great addition for what I need to use it for. If you don't know how to run a laser, it might be tricky for you at first, but it seems pretty accessible for people just starting out too. xTool keeps adding better and better support and tools as well. Very happy. Not much more to say.

Bought the D1 pro, as it stated it would engrave metal. It could not do what i wanted it to do, so i did more research, and learned that the only way to engrave all metals was to buy either this, or the F1. So i bought this, as the price is significantly cheaper. Works like a charm. It engraves, all the metals it says it does, and it turns out really nice. If you mess with the settings you can also get the engraved design to be rainbow colored. I think its pretty frikkin rad.

I had major issues getting a consistent burn on materials till I realized it was warped metal that changed the focus point. Its awesome for bigger jobs. Dont be afraid to turn it up a little for speed. I spoke with customer service directly on camera and they helped me with issue in less than 2 minutes,. Thank You Xtool for the best customer service and products on the market. Thats why i always tell people no matter what other have always promised Xtool has always delivered.

Bought it when it was on sale now Christmas time when you really needed it. It doesn't work! Should have try it first but it's XTool brand so thought it would be different. Now I have a $500 paper weight

I bought this laser for engraving painted 6061 aluminum panels with art designs. I started by experimenting with paints that burn off best and discovered that the laser will only efficiently burn off protective enamel paints in very thin layers and taking at least 3 passes at its interval of 0.03mm. My goal was to work on larger sized art pieces, but the +/- 1 mm difference on my workspace floor was causing the laser to go out of focus constantly. Improving the 1mm tolerance became very difficult without investing in a heavy machined steel base. The main issue I ran into consistently which I tried to share in the photos was blotches of area that would not 100% burn off with the laser. This was causing my artworks to not look precision perfect as I had wanted, and there's no way I can hand-fix it without ruining the laser etched look. The other large issue was how long the machine took to work. Some of my pieces took over 72 hours to engrave 3 passes, which did not remove all of the paint with the blotched sections. You should not leave a laser like this working while you aren't home, and when I pause Lightburn it would sometimes cause the operation to crash and I would need to manually frame and restart the operation which would cause ripple effects. The only way to work on large pieces is being home for many days without ever leaving, which is unrealistic. I have tried using professional grade fiber & Co2 lasers at maker spaces and those work much better and SO MUCH FASTER! This machine does ok when etching metal without paint, but it still is extremely slow. a 6"x14" engraving would take about 6 hours per pass, compared to minutes with a fiber or CO2 laser. When the whole kit shipped my extension arms got lost in the mail and had a ton of trouble getting things sorted out. XTool customer support did a much better job than amz at resolving the issue. I think this product is ok for someone using it for another purpose, but it has a lot of kinks and sensitive features which make it a headache to use on larger projects.
