  • Really great with a few quirks
Pros: I like how the keys can light up for when it's darker in the room. The download speed on it is really great. Especially from flashdrives and the like. If you want to transfer files or data from one computer to this, or vice versa, this laptop gets it's end of the job done in twice the speed practically. The fan isn't really -that- loud. I'm not really picky on that area but I was worried it might have been louder. It does get a good deal warm, on the tougher games I've played (Tales of Vesperia on Steam, Yakuza like a dragon on Steam. Can see their specs on steam for an idea of what causes it to need the fan on) Otherwise it plays alot of my other games without even getting hot or needing the fan. It has a program on the desktop you can click to immediately see the computer's specs plus temperatures. The sound is nice, I have no issues with playing music on it. The graphics are beautiful, I'm always a bit taken aback by how smoothly the camera turns and shows game graphics compared to the same games I've played on consoles earlier. I'm always thinking 'it's so smooth'. Likely due to being capable of running the 60+ fps version steam games have in comparison? It's faster than any older computer I've had. Downloading programs, uploading, creating files, saving, it's all done faster than I'm used to. It's really lightweight. Surprisingly so. Cons: The touchpad / mouse is a bit touchy. They even made the 'left click' 'right click' buttons on the bottom have the sensitivity where you tap them and it thinks you're clicking. So it's a bit more finicky to click and drag things than normal. If the buttons could have just been buttons without that tap/touch sensitivity that would be nicer imo. It doesn't have a numpad / numberpad on the right. It was a bit jarring at first, and can be tricky when certain programs/games assume you have one. It doesn't have a cd/disk drive, which i found a bit odd for a 'gaming' laptop, if you were one who wanted to put in game disks to play them. All in all: I'm happy with the purchase. The specs are just too good for the price I got it at. (30%~ off at the time?) I feel and hope this will last me a long time. I feel there won't be any games I'd be interested in coming out that this computer couldn't handle for a good while. ... show more

  • My first gaming laptop!
It came in really nice packaging that I truly enjoyed unboxing. It feels of very nice quality and the build is good. Love the good selection of ports and the customization with the rgb keyboard. This is my first gaming laptop but it doesn’t feel too incredibly hot, usually around 70s and caps at 80s if I’m playing anything intense. The keyboard maybe take some time getting used to but I do enjoy the clicky ness of it. The sound is okay, headphones are definitely recommended and the screen could be brighter but it’s good enough for me most of the time. ... show more

  • My 3 year review
Here is a list of the good, bad and the ugly with this laptop! GOOD: - Great monetary value for what you are receiving! - Perfect for a introductory laptop into the gaming space - Keyboard works well, is quiet and has never had an issue. - Display has worked perfectly with no issues - Lightweight, portable and looks great! - Takes a long time to boot up for a modern laptop(bad) BUT it runs virtually everything I throw at it. I run steam games or minecraft and usually 1 or 2 adobe software all at the same time and it performs very well! - Shaders in Minecraft? Handles it like a champ! 200+ mods? Easy! BAD - Trackpad is left wanting. Hard to turn on/off and does not feel intuitive at all - These will be the worst speakers you ever experience on a laptop, I promise. Get headphones or go without sound because it would be more beneficial that way - The fans are louder than a Toyota Tundra missing its catalytic converter. This thing screams even just running chrome. - Graphics processor is already showing signs of failure. This is a bad sign for me (Black screen, inversion of colours, ,flashing, etc) - This thing gets HOT. Even with the upgrading of the heatsinks on my device, it still can cook an egg. (Don't try this at home) But it packs a lot of processing power in a thin shell, so I'll let it slide. UGLY There are really only 3 things I find horrible with this laptop understanding its place as a value gaming laptop. - The proprietary software that runs the keyboard's lights and ambient 'experience' is absolute garbage. It will make your laptop chug all day long. First thing you should do is remove this when you get the laptop, I seriously thought my laptop was faulty, until I removed the software and then it ran fine! - 2nd is the battery. Within 6 months my 'portable' laptop turned into a handicap laptop that can't stay unplugged for more than 30 minutes at a time. Junk battery no matter how you go about it. - 3rd thing and this is the most important. THIS LAPTOP'S INTERNAL STORAGE CAN ONLY BE UPGRADED WITH XPG branded SSD. I tried third party SSD m.2 storage twice thinking it was a faulty SSD ( I was just trying to upgrade/add more storage). Tried a second brand and no luck. I was only able to make it work WITH XPG branded product. I don't know how or why but that is a load of crap. Would I recommend this? At the price absolutely, just know it is not going to be a top tier product and I even knew it was a risk going into the purchase. Overall I am pretty satisfied with it acting as a gaming/service laptop, I ended up at 3 stars after I realized how ridiculous it is knowing I cannot upgrade the SSD with anything other than XPG brand m.2. ... show more
