By default, your new PCIe SSD should work as data storage drive. Due to the Microsoft Secure Boot regulation, if user chooses to use the PCIe SSD as primary drive or installing windows to this drive, user must change the PCIe drive to UEFI drive in BIOS. Why do I see different speeds than advertised speeds? Speeds In our listings are from our internal testing results, actual performance depends on drive capacity, host device, OS and applications. If your performed speed is much lower than the advertised speed, make sure your PCIe SSD is installed on PCIe_1 slot (check your M/B manual for slot detail), NVMe function is enabled in BIOS, and the drive is set as a data drive. • LED's nice addition to other RGB's in side ur box
Capacity: 1TB Color: 3500/3000MB/s
Does the deed once windows gets it right also Asus has to share some responsibility as well their recognition with Microsoft seem a bit if fe an AMD set up leaves much to be admired . U got these multi national companies that seem to think everyone else should bow to their manufacturing and proto calls. Microsoft threats everybody software drivers as a virus and Asus doesn't help any by having unknown files on the set up disk that hasn't had Al la blessing (AKA) Bill. Meantime Product like this usually gets a bad review due to these other knuckleheads not focusing on the end user of their product. Asus really needs to a better in house Quality control (go the extra mile and get Microsoft approval for your drivers, Stop putting unknown driver files (AKA backdoor sneak a boo) on your board's set up disc's we all no bill thinks he know what's best for your devices. But truth be told what's best for his operating system. Or their gonna lose out to these up and coming up starts aka AsRock, Etc. Had problems with Samsung m2 had to return them but now I'm quite sure it was a combo between Microsoft Asus, and AMD Called Samsung and got a cold shoulder when they said we don't support raid m2 Really then why freaking advertise ur a go to company in that regard (crap like that is right up there with too big to fail). So I went with XPG at lease they had a support division that gave a crap about their product.. I realize I'm getting into a Rant's and (Karen's) domain so great product works extremely well when properly recognized and properly set up with the appropriate driver ... show more

  • Good performance but beware of possible issue with Aura Sync
Capacity: 1TB Color: 3500/3000MB/s
I like the RGB and the speeds are as advertised. I have an ASUS TUF x570 Wifi motherboard with Aura Sync which is suppose to be compatible, but.......when Aura Sync is turned on for the XPG S40G my speeds drop in half. When I turn it off everything goes back to advertised speeds. I have the latest firmware for the XPG S40G and Aura Sync. I am not sure who to point the finger at or where to start with support, but I can confirm this issue only happens when Aura sync is set to control the lights on my XPG S40G. This is unfortunate because I was hoping to be able to use Aura Sync to control all my lights, but right now its broken. I do not really want to install the software specific to the XPG S40G because its just one more RGB program to run in the background (with my ram, cpu cooler, XPG S40G, graphics card, case fans, ect theres just too many RGB programs). Although I have not tried the software specific to the XPG S40G to see if the issue also happens with it enabled. I will try this when I get home. I will keep this review at 3 stars because one of the main points to ordering this over other options was the ability to use Aura Sync, otherwise I would give this 5 stars. I do not have heat issues with this drive either and it is located right between my Ryzen 3800x CPU and 2070 super graphics card. Update: Fix for speed issues and aura sync: Make sure m2 is unchecked in the aura sync software. Install the XPG rgb software from the manufacturers website. Reboot pc and go back to aura sync software. You should see a new option for hard drive/ssd that you can enable which will control the rgb lights but not cause speed issues with the ssd. ... show more

  • Heat issues & clone issues (3/3 units have a problem)
Capacity: 512GB Color: 3500/3000MB/s
Update 3: so I have ordered 2 units (1 for myself and one for someone else) my unit (unit 1) failed on basic cloning and caused a short that messed up my computer for a bit, and was sent a replacement unit 3 , unit 2 still is working for now so purchased my unit in hopes to buff up my pc a bit before the holidays , so far its been a bad experience on 2 and mixed bad and ok on last one. unit 1 fried (cause Mother board/ram issues after it shorted itself , had to reapply profile) and now unit 3 (replacement) had multiple failed clones and errors on clones , after roughly 7+ attempts over a few hours 1 kind of worked (it had some issues with apps) but it did start to function for a bit ... on that i noticed performance lag and FPS drop and lots of unexpected issues (weird) i did a bench of the m2 and came back with 3000 R/2100W (wut?) so this unit is under performing compared to my 960 evo and its own supposed stats 3200 R / 1800W -960 evo so now im confused and noticed its a bit warmer then the evo , i did a all fans off test to see the heating and immediately noticed the two behaved much differently, the evo remains at a normal room temp (no heat sink) this xpg spikes up to 85c (wow) and it has a heat sink on it out of box. i then let this remain for a bit and noticed the r/w on bench got worse for it (thermal throttled i bet) , on reactivating case fans which has a case volume refresh rate of about 20 times a second it went back up to prior r/w so as a note this has a heating problem and a slower r/w then advertised so i spoke with customer support and they got me a refund processing and a return label (amazon has a great customer service and return ) so be aware there is variance in shown stats vs IRL , also heating I would suggest if your using to monitor the temps and run another heatsink or fan system thats quick to refresh the air volume of your case rather quickly I still have drive # 2 from my initial purchase , drive number 2 this one i did a fresh build with and cloned a windows 10 os to it this unit had 2 failed clones (bunch of errors) , and 3rd attempt yielded a successful clone thats been working so far for since it was setup (im afraid to touch it honestly at this point) this is again on a completely different machine and a fresh build it took 3 units , plenty of fails and oddities, and new unit is performing lower in r/w , but at this point im not surprised so far it seems this drive type has issue with cloning win 10 , and its r/w is below advertised rating in gen 3x4 m2 nvme an older nvme is outperforming it at this point and its kind of sad as i did have high hopes for this. not surprised these have sales and coupons , with 3/3 having some issue im just happy this one isnt failing like both my others did , will update on any progress , but as it stands i upgraded 1-> 2 stars as 1 unit is finally working closer to its expected ratings and is not dead, or acting odd beyond 2 bad clones ... show more
